I Love – Family Game Night Edition

I love the Wii Sports Resort game with the Motion Plus accessory! And I LOVE LOVE playing these games with my family!

Wii Sports Resort is one of the newer Wii games and it features an array of games that you can play using your Mii. You can compete in Swordplay (personal fav), Wakeboarding (I am the high scorer bitches), Frisbee, Archery, Basketball, Table Tennis, Golf, Bowling, Power Cruising, Canoeing (can be dangerous, move cups out of the way), Cycling, Air Sports and as you play you can unlock different variations of all these games.

The newest addition to the Wii world is the Wii MotionPlus accessory. “It connects to your Wii Remote, and the accessory's additional sensors respond to the slightest motion of your wrist, allowing your most subtle movements to deliver impressive results on screen.” Basically, it makes the Wii even MORE realistic than before and more games (like Tiger Woods Golf 2010) have this new feature.

A month or so ago our parents got us this game and this past weekend, my parents came up to visit and surprised us with a couple more motion plus accessories for our Wii Remotes and made it known that some Wii Resort playing would be going down this weekend. Saturday night we got our Wii on till after 1:30 am, and let me tell you – it was a BLAST! I love playing these games with my family and we all get into the game (though they may say I am the most competitive) and we just laugh a lot and have a fantastic time together!

I seriously recommend this game, it is my new favorite Wii game. The game is $49.95 and comes with one Wii MotionPlus. You will need to buy at least one more to play against people, they are $19.95.


Tip: ALWAYS wear your Wii remote secured tightly around your wrist when you play ALL these games. Also, make sure there are no glasses of water around you (oops, my bad), and make sure you are more than arms length away from people or anything breakable. Oh, and stretch before playing to avoid any Wii-njuries that may occur.

A Little Bit of This and A Little Bit of That....

I haven’t really had anything overly interesting to blog about recently, so I decided to just write down some random topics/updates I was thinking about.


- I was listening to my radio the other day and the 3 Doors Down song “Let Me Be Myself” came on. I didn’t think of the band but rather instantly thought of the Geico commercials with the caveman. That is good marketing.

- Since I started using Twitter I feel I am unable to come up with blog posts on a regular basis. I think it is because I feel I need to write them in 140 characters or less. (hence this post) Not cool.

- While stopped at a stop light I saw this lady (who was in the car by herself) park her car downtown BG. She got out of her car and locked her doors with her car remote and then double checked the handle to make sure it was locked. She walked a good way down the street and into a store. What was weird about that - She left ALL 4 of the windows down in the car. Hmmmmm, at least her car was locked.

- Someone gave me a file the other day at work and then proceeded to do the Heisman pose. What do you say to that.

- Starbucks has these new smoothies. I tried the Strawberry Banana Vivanno™ Smoothie. “It is a whole banana, real strawberry puree and 2% milk blended with ice and our proprietary whey protein & fiber powder.” It has 270 calories and .5g of fat. Delicious. I want to try the Orange Mango Banana one as well, but not so much the Banana Chocolate.

- I like Clementine’s because they are sweet, dainty & delicious.

- Terry quote of the week: "I think I am going to McDonalds for lunch today. I want something bad for me so I can get a McStomachache and I really want a McGut."

- We had to pay $796 for Terry’s school books THIS semester. Barf. It is seriously ridiculous what the publishers and schools charge for books. I am not kidding when I say it should be illegal, there should be a cap on that. And to make matters worse 3 of the 4 classes he took were only 100 level classes. WTF?! I guess for Christmas this year we will be passing out philosophy, biology, and computer books as presents.

- Terry has taken over our Netflix account. He just returned Trailer Park Boys: The Movie, being sent today is Psycho Beach Party, and in the queue are Trailer Park Boys: Season 3 and Iron Maiden: The Early Years. I think I need to add some more girlie movies back to the queue.

- My mom will be proud of this: I HATE to shop and I went to Kohls a couple weeks ago because I needed a couple things. (I stress needed as infact I DID need stuff as I do not just go shopping for the fun of it.) While I was there I found a few shirts that I loved and they were on sale, plus I had a coupon & a gift card. I ended up buying them and was thrilled at the final price I paid. Total original purchase price: $156; Total after sale price & coupon:$37.12; Total after gift card: $5.36! Yes, I got $156 worth of clothes for $5.36 out of pocket! Awesome.

- I wish all shirts, especially work shirts, would screen on the tag instead of having a physical tag. The screen tag isn’t itchy and it doesn’t hang out of your shirt. It is brilliant.

- My sister and I colored my hair a darker brown last night. Though I wanted a darker brown, I was not sure if I went too dark. One of the ladies noticed my hair and said she liked it. I mentioned that I thought it may be a little too dark for me to which she said this…. “I have always liked your hair darker. It looks really pretty and looks good on you. It makes your hair look even thicker and very luscious.” I love her. That totally made my day!

- Speaking of hair, I need a hair cut BAD and I am glad I have one this Saturday. My split ends are horrible, which of course I really noticed when I colored my hair from light brown to dark brown. I look down at my hair and see all these tiny white specks on the ends of my hair. Not attractive.

- I am SO happy good reality TV is on right now. Top Chef, Project Runway, Ghost Hunters, My Antonio...um wait, scratch that last one.

Latest Celeb to Think They Can Find “Love” on a VH1 Reality Show

So VH1 found another former celebrity who doesn’t have anything better to do so he stars in his own reality show where he claims he is looking for a real and serious relationship...... with of course some random girl picked by the VH1 marketing department. Antonio Sabato Jr. is looking for true love in Hawaii and there are 13 eager ladies looking to win his love. (Love that also comes with a big bank account and 15 minutes of fame.)

Here is what was on the website announcing the show. I thought some parts were not completely accurate, so I made revisions where necessary.

So here is to yet another show giving hope to the everyday skank and giving her the chance to live out her "celebrity" dreams by dressing provocatively, acting like an idiot on TV, drinking crazy amounts of alcohol, bitch slapping other women, and just plain old making a fool of themselves so to ultimately make out (or have sex) with someone who use to be famous.


Needless to say, I will watch this.

PROJECT RUNWAY - TONIGHT!!!

Make sure your DVR's are set...or even better just don't plan to do anything at all tonight except sit in front of your TV and watch Project Runway! The new season of Project Runway starts tonight at 10pm on Lifetime. But that is not it, at 8pm tonight there is a 2 hour All-Star Project Runway Special. Awesome.

What a great week for TV. 3 hours of Project Runway tonight. Last night was 2 1/2 hours of Top Chef and the new Season kicked off. And the new season of Ghost Hunters was last night.

I Think My Blog Is Broken...

I am sad as I think my blog is sick.

I will post things and they just don't post, things I do post don't appear on the blog rolls, and my blog roll on the side is outdated.

I tried changing the template, editing things on my blog, and still for a week it has not been acting right. Even the page I create posts at hasn't looked right for months. I don't know what to do, but I hope it fixes itself soon. I am only posting this hoping that it works and everything goes back to normal, but then again it may not post or you may not know it posted and once again I have no idea what to do.

Any ideas/suggestions let me know.

A True Music Icon.

(Oh, hold on I was just watching yet another Michael Jackson special on TV nearly 2 months after his passing. Ok, now I can get back to this apparently not so important news.)




In case you haven’t heard (which wouldn’t be a surprise) Les Paul passed away earlier this week. Who is Les Paul, he is only the inventor of the first solid body electric guitar and basically the Father of the Electric Guitar as well as the person who created different recording techniques, specifically multitrack recording. (Recording each element separately, from the vocals to instrumentation on different tracks, they could be mixed and layered, adding to the richness in sound.)

It wasn’t necessarily a surprise he passed away as he was 94 years old, however I do believe he should be honored for everything he has done. This man was a true genius and what he created whether it was in the form of guitars, music, or the way he recorded music truly revolutionized ALL music that we listen to today.

My family and I were lucky enough to see him be honored and actually play at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame American Music Masters ceremony last year in Cleveland. Slash, Billy Gibbons, Richie Sambora, just to name a few honored this man and all his accomplishments. It was an AMAZING show. My blog post here. Innovative individuals like this, who truly transform the way we hear music and experience music, should be recognized for all that they have done. Though he may not have been an important story in the news world this week, anyone who plays a guitar or appreciates music for what it is today owes it all to this man here and we should pay tribute to all that he has done for music!

So I heard on NPR this morning that the Pope is going to release his very own Christmas album. Click Here for the story.

"Pope Benedict XVI has the chance of a Christmas number one in the pop charts after signing a record deal to release an album of him singing chants in the Vatican. It will feature the Pope singing litanies and chants in honour of the Virgin Mary, as well as reciting passages and prayers in Latin, Italian, Portuguese, French and German."

It will be released on CD on November 30 on Universal's Geffen label - which by the way is also home to Marilyn Manson, Timbaland, Guns N' Roses, and Dr. Dre....just to name a few! (hahaha, that is funny to me).

So forget Bing Crosby, The Carpenters, Judy Garland, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Charlie Brown, or even The Chipmunks...it is ALL about Pope Benedict XVI this Christmas Season!!

Happy Blog-iversary to ME!

So today is my Blog-iversary!

Yep, it has been 3 years of my rants, random questions, updates on my life, useless information, attempts at comedy and other things I feel I should share with my friends as well as complete strangers on the world wide web. I am surprised I am still blogging three years later. I have never been someone who journals, I am not the best writer, and I tend to be pretty shy and withdrawn around people I don’t know so I wasn’t sure this was for me. But instead I found out that I LOVE blogging. I love keeping up with friends, sharing parts of my life, making new friends, sharing exciting new experiences, finding comfort through difficult times and having a positive outlet to express myself. Because of this here blog I have become more open, confident and willing to express myself in a constructive way to those around me.

I decided that for this post I would go back through past posts to find some of my favorites, but as I saw I had over 800 posts to read I was afraid this was going to turn into a tedious task that wouldn’t be much fun. However, after I got through just the first couple posts I began to feel this happiness and tons of memories came flowing into my head and I just had to keep reading. A couple hours later I had made my way through 3 years of life events and felt so unbelievably lucky to have it all written down. There was our wedding, our first house, many new baby announcements, posts that had me laughing, posts that I thought “why the hell did I post that”, highly opinionated posts, there were tough times, happy times and just plain old goofy times. I also noticed that I have horrendous grammar, atrocious spelling, and I overuse punctuation like it was my job. I may need to work on that for the next three years!

FRESH CHERRIES!

Ok, this probably sounds like a random thing to say “I Love”, but I tried my first fresh cherries this weekend and I am on the verge of being fully addicted, as in I need an intervention! I have never really been a fan of cherries. I don’t really care for maraschino cherries and don’t like natural or artificially cherry flavored ANYTHING and so I just stayed clear of them all together. But when we were at a Farmers Market this weekend Terry picked some up. He was raving about how good they were, so I thought what the heck and gave into peer pressure and tried them.

Verdict: DELICIOUS.

Because I am just loving these and feel as if I need to catch up on years of lost cherry eating time, I went to the store to get more and also found yellow cherries, I think I like those even more than the regular ones. Even T. says he has never tasted a cherry as good as the yellow ones. Simply delightful. So now my afternoon snack consists of a bag of cherries, grapes and blueberries. YUM! So I guess this means I am converted, I officially love cherries. Well only the fresh ones, I still don’t like anything else with cherries or cherry flavored. Blech

So with tons of wonderful fruits over the summer, what are your favorites?
Mine are cherries (obviously), red grapes, blueberries, black berries, peaches and plums.

Any fruit recipes you would like to share?
Not a recipe, but I like yogurt with berries and granola.


Random Fact: “The cherry belongs to the family Rosaceae, genus Prunus, along with almonds, peaches, plums, apricots and bird cherries.” I did not know this, almonds are not botanically a nut but from the same family as cherries. Don't say I write just mindless crap on this here blog....I value learning as well.

No Secret is Safe.

I just read online that some guy thinks he has figured out the Colonel's secret 11 herbs & spices KFC recipe...or at the least it is pretty darn close. The Colonel's recipe is one of the biggest secrets in restaurant history and this guy, after about 6 attempts, thinks he has figured out the mixture of spices. And will he be sharing his recipe, of course. A book that was released earlier this month reveals this and other secret recipes that he has figured out or just plain asked for.

I do have to ask, WHY?

What is the big deal about finding out the recipe, why can't we just let some things be. First, just the idea of the Colonel having a secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices is just part of the legacy of KFC but I guess even more to the point is how many people are actually going to cook fried chicken with this recipe? I guess maybe I am not a "fried chicken" person and therefore IF I am in the mood for it, I will buy it and not make it myself. I know that even if I tried to make this with the real recipe it would never turn out the same as if I just got chicken from KFC, so I will just spend the money and go with the real thing.

Besides if I am going to eat fast food chicken, I prefer Popeye's over KFC anyday.

Movie Review - Harry Potter

So last night we went to see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince! YAY!!

I was pretty excited about seeing this movie and overall it did not disappoint. This movie doesn't have as many big fight scenes and big action, it definitely is more plot and setting up for the final movies. I think they captured the books more serious and darker tones but also managed to mix in a good amount of humor and teenage angst. I also thought it was beautifully shot, the visuals in this movie were by far the best of any of the ones before. Plus the supporting cast in the movie are my favorite, they are all amazing. I will forever have a crush on Alan Rickman (as Snape or just as himself). Michael Gambon = awesome. I simply adore Maggie Smith and love Helena Bonham Carter, David Thewlis, Julie Walters - they are all just fantastic (like always) and I wish we would have seen more of them. As for the character Slughorn - loved him!

I think my sisters blog pretty much sums up my thoughts on the movie, so please read her post also. I do agree with her that there were some things they left out, changed, or didn't follow true to the book which I wish they had but it is totally expected when adapting so much content into a movie as to be more fluid for non-book readers to follow. (But hasn't that been the case for all the movies, accomadating the readers vs. nonreaders.) However, I wish there would have been more memories with Voldemort and I feel a couple important parts of the book where left out. I don't want to go into to much and ruin it.

Of course I have to watch this at least once more in the theater, but this is one of my favorite movies. I definitely didn't have that disappointed feeling for this movie like I did with the last one (The Order of the Phoenix was a bit of a let down for me in some ways). I think my favorite is still The Prisoner of Azkaban, I don't know I just love that movie, but this one is a very close second (very close).

As for the upcoming two movies (yes this one just came out and I am already talking about the next) I have just a few quick thoughts.

1. I am SO glad they are doing 2 movies. There is so much information and explanation that I want to make sure it is covered and very little is left out. However, I hope they do this well and don't just make the movies drag. And don't focus on the romance.

2. I am glad that The Deathly Hallows Part 1 is coming out in 2010 and Part 2 is coming out in 2011 only 6 months later. I do not want to wait forever to see the next movies...they need to be done already.

3. I am more excited about Part 2 than Part 1. I need to read the book again but I imagine Part 1 will be alot like this new movie in that it will be very much a story and less magic and action. And of course the last one will be full on kick'n ass.



Ok, I am done and am ready to go back and see it again!!!

Talk to Me – Product Edition: Pedi Paws

So has anyone out there tried the Pedi Paws pet clipper product? We are wondering if it is any good and also how loud it is, seriously the cats in their commercials look freaked out!

Our little cat has this habit of stretching against walls. She will put her paws up on the wall as high as she can and stretch out as long as she can. She doesn’t scrape the walls but sometimes she is dumb and will stretch out against the curtain or the screen door or the couch and then she will get herself stuck. Terry was home at lunch today and heard her meowing and she was all stretched on the screen with her back paws barely touching the floor….she will never learn.

We usually don’t trim their claws as they are fairly good about scratching where they should, but this constant getting stuck in the curtain and screen is annoying. So we thought maybe this Pedi Paw thing would work. I have my doubts as it seems loud and too bulky, Terry is optimistic it will work, most likely just because he wants to buy one.

So any reviews on the product or even your thoughts would be wonderful!

Say What You Mean, Please

We are ordering lunch at work on Monday and so we got a menu for a local Chinese restaurant to pick out what we wanted. As I was going through it I came across Chicken Subgum. I have never heard of this before so I did what many of us do in this high tech information age, I googled it on that interweb thingy. I came to find out that Chicken Subgum (or also made with Pork, beef or shrimp) simply means “with vegetables”. So Chicken Subgum (which sounds a little weird and a bit gross) is basically just chicken with vegetables which is actually really good. Who knew?!

And as I learned something new today, I thought I would share with all of you.

Talk To Me.....Burger Edition

So as the July 4th weekend approaches many people will be outside grilling up burgers. So I am asking, what do you like on your burger? Do you like beef, turkey, or maybe something different like lamb? What are your favorite “toppings”?

Mine: Currently my favorite burger is a beef (half sirloin; half chuck) burger with Swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms and slices of avocado with a little yellow mustard on a grilled bun.

Many times I will ask Terry something and I will get a ridiculous response. So when I asked him a simple question today this is what he said:

A Little Thirsty, Perhaps.

So after work today I decided I was in the mood for something to drink other then the water I drink all day long. I went over to Sonic to try some of their fun drinks I have heard so much about. Now I have only been to Sonic a couple times, so I am not really familiar with all the drink options available to me. Since I was not familiar and this was a spur of the moment trip (Had I known I would have totally done my research at work prior to going) I felt I was under some pressure to see how quickly I could skim their selections and order a drink so to not be THAT person who pulls up to a drive through, has no idea what they want, and takes forever.

So after just a mild delay from rushing so the line of cars behind me didn’t get angry, I opted on the Strawberry Limeade*. After I ordered they said that I could upgrade my drink for free; I wasn't paying attention as I was still going through all the drinks available on their menu and said sure. However, had I known what I know now, I would have passed on their very generous offer. Seriously, THIS is what they handed me, a 44 ounce vat of strawberry limeade…straw included.



WHAT?!?! Do people really drink all this?

I can not believe how flipp’n big this is, ridiculous.

So when I got home I lugged the 36 of the 44 ounce beverage I bought to the kitchen counter and I began to think of all the things in my kitchen that are similar in size….just to give an idea of just how big this drink is.



A 64 ounce container of Pickles. (Why do we have so many pickles, because we loves them!)



A 48 ounce container of Vegetable Oil.



A gallon of milk.




A 64 ounce container of Ketchup (not to be confused with catsup).




Even Belle who loves to get into everything, didn't know what to think about this gigantic foam container!

So consider this your warning. If you are parched and in the mood for a beverage, this is probably your best bet. But if you are just a little thirsty, perhaps you just want to wet your whistle, I would go with the small.

*The strawberry limeade was good, but a little too sweet for me. I will try another one next time I go. Any suggestions?

Just A Mindless Blog for a Friday Afternoon

Remember when you were younger and you would take the big JcPenny’s or Sears catalog and go through and circle everything you wanted from it? I loved doing that then and at the age of 29 I still enjoy doing that. When I get magazines in the mail I totally enjoy going through and marking everything I want. I know I may never get anything I circle, but it is fun to dream and have my very own wish list of things that one day we may buy.

So that is what I am doing in this post today, "circling" my favorite items from one of my favorite store as i just felt like sharing...and as my husband tells me sharing is caring :) My inspiration comes from the email ads from Williams-Sonoma I get every few days and their magazine I get every other month. I LOVE this store, even though I think I only have ever bought one or two small items from them. It is one of those places when I am in there or looking at the magazine I say; “I wish I had that, I want THAT, I NEED that”, on every other item I come across. I do have a strong LOVE of all things kitchen/dining related. Terry would say too much of a love as we have no more room for anything kitchen related.

Here is my “wish list” IF we had the money to splurge (you know from the lottery we are going to win). I didn’t put any kitchen gadgets as I want every gadget I come across.

MY LIST

Lausanne Flatware, I LOVE this flatware! A great oversized flatware done in a European style. I love nice, heavy silverware and this looks very simple, sturdy and stylish.




Espresso Cups. I have wanted a nice set of Espresso cups and saucers for awhile. Not like I am drinking espresso a lot, but we do have an old espresso machine and it is not the same drinking espresso in an 8oz coffee mug! Plus these are just simple and cute.

Grated Cheese Server!! Um, what do I need to say about this other then it is for CHEESE! Seriously, I want this. You can easily pass cheese around the table then scoop it out with the cute little scoop, Awesome. This is too perfect.

Glass Tea Pot. I saw this and fell in love with it. This partly hand-blown traditional tea-pot allows you to see your tea steeping. “Once it reaches the desired strength, press the plunger of its infuser to instantly halt the brewing process, preventing the tea from tasting bitter.” Very cool.

Frozen Margarita Machine – Um, did you see this thing?! So I ask, why would you NOT want one of these. It is just really really really cool.

Pancake Fan. I know you can get one similar at Big Lots for $19.99 (and I actually might just get one) but I just think these are great and I would love one. I even wrote a blog about these awhile back. Mini pancake puffs is just wonderful enough, but then you can fill them with chocolate, fruit, or cream – amazing.

Copper Dutch Oven. I am a big fan of the look of copper in the kitchen. We want to get a copper backsplash in our kitchen and I would love some copper pots one day to go with that. I am a big fan of this style.

Soup Tureen. Ok, this is going out there a little bit for me but I am strangely attracted to it, birds and all. My taste in dinnerware and serving dishes is very simple. All our stuff is black and white. I like the simplistic look of food on uniquely shaped white serving dishes mixed with a few black ones. However, this hand painted piece of art is just gorgeous and interesting to look at, and who wouldn’t want to serve soup in a flipp'n tureen like this at their next dinner party?! I for one would LOVE to.

Movie Review – Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

We went last night and saw the new Transformers movie and I must say, ignore the stupid reviews you read about it being a bad movie …..unless what they mean is BADASS!

Seriously, the movie was awesome!

It is not winning any awards for best acting or best screenplay, DUH, just take it for the big budget summer movie it is meant to be. Lots of action mixed with a good amount of humor, big explosions, great special effects and GIANT robots (in disguise)!

I have been asked if it is better than the first. I will say it is bigger and there are more robots and I think I liked it alot better then the first but I have only seen this once and I have seen the first over 50 times (seriously, whenever it is on TV I watch it). But I really did love it, a lot.

Go. See it. In a BIG theater. And don’t drink too much during the movie as it is 2 ½ hours but worth every minute.
