Going Organic (Sort of)

Over the last 6 months or so Terry and I have started incorporating more organic foods into our life. Not everything we eat we buy organic or think should be organic, but there are things like lettuce, mushrooms, some fruits and some other veggies that we prefer the quality of the organic over regular. We are also looking at buying some organic beef from a farmer this spring.

Anyways, this weekend Terry picked up a few of these Horizon Organic Milk boxes to try. Terry does not drink milk at all, where as my sister and I could easily go through a gallon in just two days between the two of us. I tried the regular, chocolate and the strawberry milk and I have to say that these are fantastic!!

I don't think I will switch to organic. One for the price and second I drink ALOT of skim milk which isn't really milk anyways but Terry said he wants to drink this over regular milk. I also think if I am in the mood for chocolate or strawberry I will drink these instead. (The strawberry is my favorite!!) Now that I have tried the milk, I might have to try some of the other products Horizon Organic sells. Products here

I like the fact that this milk contains:
No antibiotics
No added growth hormones
No dangerous pesticides
No genetically modified organisms
No artificial flavors, synthetic colors or preservatives
No hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils

Do you drink organic milk? Does it even matter to you? Any other milk products you eat that are organic?

  1. AHHHHH! I love Horizon Organic milk, especially in those juice boxes! my husband thinks it is pretty crazy how much organic milk I drink. I don't go out of my way to eat a lot of other organic foods, but I really feel better about the organic milk and it tastes better!

  2. I agree that it tastes better. I LOVE the milk that you get at the Phoenix Co-op that comes in the returnable bottles. I think all Horizon products are wonderful, especially the yogurt, but it's quite costly. I mainly buy the Kroger brand organics and look for stuff on "manager's special."

  3. I loathe skim milk and cannot drink it. I can drink 1% but 2% gets to be too think and whole is not an option. Maybe I will try it since finding alternate calcium sources is annoying.

  4. The organic milk was pretty good, but I think I'm going to stick to my 1% milk. It's too good to give up!

  5. Like you we try to buy as much organic as we can afford. If you like yogurt the Stoneyfarm smoothies are sooooooooo good, and I loathe yogurt.
