CONGRATS!
Monday, February 26, 2007
Have you ever......
I actually pictured the entire scene in my head. I first reached over and threw all the papers into the air (tearing a couple as I go), then I tossed all the books out into the hall and finally I tossed the computer/keyboard and printer against the wall. The entire time screaming....SHUT UP, JUST SHUT UP!
Yeah, that would make me feel alot better!
Movie Review!
I give Reno 911 an A+!!!!
I thought this movie was awesome! So funny! I few of us went this weekend and I have to say I was not disappointed! It is exactly what I thought it would be, but funnier! We loved it!
I overheard a couple people around who thought it was ok.....but I am guessing they don't have a sense of humor to begin with! I will totally buy this on DVD when it comes out!
I think She is Addicted Now....
This past Friday after work my sister and I decided to spend some quality time together and head up to Toledo to go shopping! She had never experienced the wonderfulness that is Target so we decided to go there and Best Buy.
I have to say it was SO nice to spend time with my sister! We were out and about for nearly 3 hours and I had a blast! Neither of us our much of shoppers....we don't really like to browse or fight crowds. However, Target wasn't at all crowded and it was just nice to walk around casually looking at whatever we could find! We were in the store for about an hour and enjoyed EVERY moment of it! We also got some kick-ass deals! yesssss I think she is addicted now! I am SO glad she came up to school here, I really am enjoying spending time with her! (now if we can just get our parents up here...right K?!?! hehe)

For my Listening Pleasure!
So my dad recently told me that I could listen to my XM radio online - YAY!!! I tried it out for the first time today and I have to say I LOVE it! My favorite stations are Ethel, Flight 26, and the bone yard. Plus online you get some bonus stations like New Rock First (up and coming rock artists) & one hit wonders!!! SO FUN!!
I have been listening to my itunes but since I don't have an ipod I don't keep it current with new stuff....so I just listen to the same things over and over! XM online gives me something extra and I love it!!!
Also, I think I am actually excited if XM and Sirius merge! Last I heard (earlier this week) is that things are set in motion to merge but they are waiting for some legal things. Like if the two companies merge is it considered a monopoly of the market...if so I do not believe they can merge. However, if ipods (and a couple other items I can not recall) are considered competition then they can move forward. Like I said, i don't know where they are at this point...this is what I read earlier in the week!
I, of course, am an XM user mainly because of the great rock stations XM has. Sirius had some great stations too so it will be interesting to see what they incorporate into each other and what they get rid of. I have to say I will be a little upset if they get rid of any of the stations I enjoy...but I will complain about that later if it happens!
Any opinions on the merger if you are an XM or sirius person? And anyone else LOVE XM online as much as I do? (they better not get rid of that!!!)

I love.....
I also have a FIRST CLASS MAIL stamp as well! I love office supplies, but more importantly...today I love my COPY stamp!
Good Stuff!
So I wrote this post because twopretzels just wrote a post on aging and as I have been thinking about the aging of my face for a little while now and I decided to do something about it with some new products I bought - I thought I would share my products with you!
So recently I made an unusual but what I am thinking is necessary purchase for myself.....skin care products. I normally don't wear skin care products...I just never thought it was that important. I have been pretty lucky to not get many pimples/blemishes and because of that I have stuck to using my $2 face cleaner and vitamin E oil (A MUST HAVE) when I get blemishes. However, no matter how good your skin is OR how good you may think it is you... I am starting to realize I need to take better care of my skin! Maybe it is b/c I am turning 27 shortly, the cold weather, or just new lighting in our house but I decided it was time to get some NICE skin care products and try to help the signs of aging I am starting to get!
So a few weeks ago I went out and bought some lotions, face cleaner and Olay Regenerist night recovery moisturizing treatment. I had heard that the Olay Regenerist line was REALLY good so i thought I would give it a try! I have to say after just a couple weeks of using this product at night I am VERY happy! I don't know if anyone else will notice a difference, but I do! My skin feels better....healthier and surprisingly it is starting to feel a little tighter. I am so happy that I am going to try something else from this line! (Click here for all Regenerist products.) I think i may try Regenerist Deep Hydration Regenerating Cream (it contains vitamin E & B5 and helps dry skin like mine) and maybe Regenerist Thermal Skin Polisher.
I don't know compared to other products if the price is more or less...but my night cream was $18.99. I think that is reasonable b/c it will last me awhile and it works! I am also trying to make an effort to take 10 minutes or so a night to take care of my skin and not be lazy like I have been. I guess we will see what happens!
Any skin care products you love?

Happy Fat Tuesday!
In celebration of fat Tuesday and the upcoming Lenten season I thought I would give you a little insight - well at least what I know - to the season and a brief overview to what the heck us Christians (specifically Catholic in my case) are doing. You see us eating tons on Tuesday, with dirt on our head Wednesday, attending a lot of fish dinners on Fridays and giving up our favorite snack/beverages for 40 days(post on this topic below)! Here is what is going on with us in a very general explanation…..
Fat Tuesday:
In short…..It's time to party it up, and ....eat. Fat Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday (see below). It is also known as Mardi Gras Day or Shrove Day. Traditionally, households consumed all the remaining foods that would be forbidden during Lent as the following day is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of a long fasting period for Christians. Today (in most cases) in the church you really only fast on Ash Wednesday and Fridays; while also not eating meat on those specific days. However, tradition would be to fast and not indulge at all during the 40 days (excluding Sundays) and eat no meat at all during this time. So that is why on fat Tuesday you are suppose to eat, drink and be merry!!
Ash Wednesday:
Ash Wednesday is the first day of the Christian season of Lent and a sign of penitence. During Lent, Christians must fast and give up things they like. The Lenten season lasts for 40 days and is a period of spiritual discipline, fasting and moderation in preparation for Holy Week and Easter; one of the most important days of the church year.
On Ash Wednesday, Christians go to mass and receive ashes on their foreheads in the sign of the cross. Ashes are placed on our foreheads as a sign of the frailty and uncertainty of human life, and as a reminder of our need to repent. It also means from "Ashes to Ashes and Dust to Dust". That we came from dust and we shall return to dust, referring to our earthly bodies, not our souls.
Lent:
There are traditionally forty days in Lent which are marked by fasting, both from foods and festivities, and by other acts of penance. Lent is the forty-day period before Easter. It begins on Ash Wednesday. We skip Sundays when we count the forty days, because Sundays commemorate the Resurrection. In the Roman Catholic Church, Lent officially ends at sundown on Holy Thursday, with the beginning of the mass of the Lord's Supper.
Lent is a season of soul-searching and repentance. It is a season for reflection and taking stock. Lent originated in the very earliest days of the Church as a preparatory time for Easter, when the faithful rededicated themselves and when converts were instructed in the faith and prepared for baptism. By observing the forty days of Lent, the individual Christian imitates Jesus' withdrawal into the wilderness for forty days. The reason we are suppose to give something up (even though I am still in thought about this topic, post below) is b/c it is said that Jesus was tempted (or really tested) by demons and such during his time in the desert and he rejected each possibility. That is why we give something up…so we too test ourselves (why I think I should give up more than pop).
Holy Week:
This is too much to get in too, but basically this is the week we journey through the story of Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem on Palm Sunday to his betrayal, death and celebration of his resurrection with the First Eucharist of Easter.
...........
So there you go, a kinda brief & somewhat general introduction into the Lenten season! Sorry it is so long…..even though I do not believe in everything about religion and the church, this is the one thing I think is very very important for all of us to understand and practice! Not only is this why were are here, I think it does everyone good, religious or not, to take time to reflect on themselves and be without some of the luxuries we are so use too on a daily basis!
HAPPY FAT TUESDAY!

Lent Cometh - Giveth Up the Pepsi Once Again....
So as we prepare for a new lenten season I must ask the all important question, what do you do for lent? I am always confused with what to do. I have given up pop, snacks and candy SO many times during my life, it almost doesn't feel like I am really doing anything to better me or others. Don't get me wrong....it isn't easy for me to give up pop but how many times can I do that before it looses it's meaning /the purpose of the season? So here I am once again, just a couple days before lent trying to figure out exactly what to do. I have tried doing things for others, but end up failing and just giving money to the church.
So at the moment I am confused. I keep thinking maybe it is better to give of my time or effort than of food or luxury. I think this time should be to reflex on ones self and others and become a personal thing....and that i should not be just giving something up for the sake of giving something up. Of course if by giving up a certain item (i.e candy) you feel something more than just the urge to have candy then I say go for it!!!! My questions are mine alone....I just am not getting anything any more by giving things up and I hate that I complain when i give something up b/c it shouldn't be about that. I also hate that on Easter Sunday ALL I can think about is finally getting whatever it was I gave up instead of thinking about the reserection.
So I am trying to think of what I can do to help me become a better person...to reflect on things. Maybe I will write in a journal observations/reflections about myself. Maybe I will have a complain box and everytime I complain about myself or say something negative about others I will put money in a box and give it to the church. I am sure the church will get a bunch of money from that! Who knows - it may help me to be more positive and inturn maybe it will help the others around me be positive. Or maybe I will just start praying, I don't know. See, you have to understand I have faith but I also have ALOT of questions about religion and things I don't agree with....so sometimes it is hard for me to find the true meaning in things and instead I feel a pressure from the church to follow what has always been done before. (see this is what I don't like....a pressure to feel like you HAVE to do something or else you are not a good person. This time of year is not be about that...religion should not be about that - ugh)
And P.S. I actually REALLY love the meaning behind and everything about the lenten season (it why we are here) - I just don't get this one aspect of lent (giving something up).....shouldn't we be doing more; shouldn't we be looking inside ourselves????
Anyways - any thoughts on Lent? Will you be giving anything up? (please feel free to answer, whether you celebrate or not)

Iron Maiden....bringing people together since 1975
A review of my day....
I give my day an A++
T. & I enjoyed the day together on his first saturday off work since our wedding in september!!!! It was so nice spending the day with my husband, it was perfect!!!
We slept in, got Starbucks, went to see the movie Ghost Rider (review below), and went and had wonderful snow crab legs at Red Lobster. Since we ate lunch/dinner at 4 (we like to eat at that time b/c it isn't as crowded) we are going to have some cake later and watch a movie! I am SO happy...an entire weekend with my husband - AWESOME!!!
................................
So onto the movie review.
I give this movie a B-....some of you may think this is a little high if you have seen the movie. The movie itself was ok, we were entertained with the effects and I have to say I ADORE Nic. Cage (i think he is awesome) and I also love comic book movies....that is why it is getting a B-.
As for the movie itself it wasn't as dark as what I would have liked it to be. This is a dark comic and the movie didn't reflect that. The movie also got a little weird towards the middle and end. It just didn't flow...like they cut stuff out that was important. It was choppy and I just didn't care for it. I also think b/c this comic isn't as popular they had to spend more time explaining who Ghost Rider is and the legend that with the storyline it didn't leave enough time for either. I also do not like Eva Mendes at all. I don't like her acting and I think b/c her acting was so bad ecspecially next too great actors like Nic, Peter Fonda, & Sam Elliot that they just made her wear way too tight and small shirts so that every shot they showed tons of cleavage so you wouldn't notice her bad acting. ugh
Like I said, the effects were great and the idea was great and freak'n Nicolas Cage is DA BOMB....but the story itself was just not done right and it wasn't edited right. So I would wait till it comes out on DVD and give it ago then. It will at the least be entertaining enough for the cost of renting a DVD!!! I will say, we will most likely still buy it on DVD - we just like collecting comic book movies!
Anyone else see it???? Your thoughts???

I'll Admit it...
I like Christina's new image and new sound, alot! I even think her new single Candyman is a little naughty, pop-esqu (word??), catchy, and fun to listen to! I love the clothes she wears now (super adorable and retro) and that she is showing off how good her voice really is! I really like that updated jazz/blues/ pop sound - AWESOME! I even think she pulls off the red lipstick wonderfully!
I am normally not a fan of this music but I am saying it right here, right now - I am going to buy her CD and frankly.......I think I am going to really enjoy it! Rock on Christina!!!
Breyers Ice Cream Review:
Another special flavor from Breyers! Cinnamon caramel light ice cream swirled with honey caramel with cinnamon tostada pieces.
REVIEW: B-
That is Breyers description for their "special edition" Fried Ice Cream they have out! T & I had some last night. I have to admit it was better than what I thought. I love traditional fried ice cream so I was a little skeptical on how good it would taste in this form.
It is hard to explain how it tasted. It really wasn't bad and it wasn't fantastic...it was just good. Now obviously it is not as good as actually going to a Mexican restaurant and getting some or even making my own but good nonetheless for a packaged ice cream!
First, please note it doesn't look like the picture on the container, but what products actually do. But it tasted like a nice mild cinnamon ice cream with the occasional honey/cinnamon semi-stale tostada piece mixed in! As pleasant as it tasted I think I would just rather make my own! (see below for my recipe) I really enjoy the taste of Breyers vanilla ice cream but it could have used more flavor and crunchies, I like tons of the "crunchies" and there wasn't enough in there for me or T. Now my friend Chris LOVES this ice cream - thinks it is the best thing ever, so maybe some of you out there will love it....we, well we just like it! It may just be a matter of giving it a try!
I would rate it as a B-. I know I would eat it again and enjoy it, but I think I would much rather make my own!
How I make a quick "fried" ice cream:
- A couple scoops of vanilla ice cream
- Crumbled up corn flakes on top
- Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top
- Drizzle honey and chocolate syrup (optional - but I think necessary)
- Top with whip cream
ENJOY!!!! This a Fiesta in your mouth EVERY time :-)
From my sister; To all Google Bloggers:
My sister wants to know how to post videos onto her blog. She has tried a couple different ways and it doesn't seem to be working like it did before. And since 75% of her postings are video related she doesn't know what to do!
Maybe it just wasn't working the times she tried it or maybe there is something special you have to do....but any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!
Thanks!

Brain Freeze!
Another thing I love about winter AND having a house with a garage...ice cold pop!
We keep our pop in the garage since it is so cold and let me tell you this makes for some of the best drinkage one could possible have! Nothing beats an ice cold pop...ecspecially like when the other day I opened it and took a sip and it was slushy.....BONUS!!!
AWESOME MUSIC!
So this weekend my mom bought Corinne Bailey Rae's new CD (my parents really have such great taste in music, actually my sister and husband do too....I love that!)! Of course I got a copy of it too and I am here to tell you - it is AWESOME!!! She has such a great and soothing voice! So beautiful! GET IT NOW!! I am also watching the Grammy's and she just performed with John Mayer and John Legend - two other performers I adore! I own all John Mayers CD's and have loved him for so long....I love the blues sound he has! John Legend is also amazing! Their performances were so great!
I also got these other CD's this weekend:
- Jet's new CD (don't know the name) SO GOOD!
- The Spamalot Soundtrack (I love Monty Python)
- Gnarles Barkley (very fun!)
P.S. I am liking the Grammy's so far tonight! The Police are awesome....I hope they play again before the night is over, the performances are great, and so far I like all the people who have won and think they deserve it! We'll see what else happens. (PPS - Ludacris is adorable...I like him and glad he won and Mary J Blige's performance was fantastic...so emotional!)

I am sorry, this number has been disconnected!
So today for about an hour I will be changing my role in the office to help out. I will be answering phones and helping anyone who comes into the office. Now I don't mind doing this at all, it is something different and the people I am helping out in the office are super nice...so it is all good!
However, I can't help but be a little nervous. See, I work in the President's office of the college I work at and I will be answering the phone for about 4 important people, including the president of the school. This is a bit scary! Hopefully being a Friday afternoon, the calls and guests will be limited - but like I said....my nerves are definatly on edge. I will be all alone if there are any problems and I don't want to disconnect anyone during a transfer or do something or say something wrong to someone. Plus, I don't like answering my own phone!
So I am just hoping, everyone in the world will be busy and unable to make phone calls from around 1:30 - 2:45 today!
So here it goes!!!
(I am sure it won't be that bad...I just worry a lot!)

Cute Website!
http://www.cafepress.com/
Above is a website I found that sells some really great stuff..."Unique gifts, T-shirts and more" is what the claim! I went to it b/c it had stuff for people who love and those who hate Valentines Day. I LOVE the v-day shirt above, it is in the anti-valentines day section! There are tons and tons of cute things for anti-valentines day....and for the romantics there is stuff for v-day...but I think the anti v-day stuff is alot funnier!
Searching the site more they also have ALOT more than just v-day stuff. I totally suggest checking it out! They really have some great & funny t-shirts in just about every category you can think of. (I also love the mushroom magnet above - hehe) And you can custom design and sell your own stuff too! AWESOME!!!

I'm Ok With It....
I know outside it is bitterly cold. So cold your teeth hurt, your eyes water (and then freeze), no part of your body can get warm, your leather seats are freezing, the snot freezes in your nose, and you just don’t want to walk anywhere outside….but honestly, I don’t mind.
Seriously! I would much rather have very very cold weather than lots of snow/hail/ice. It is just me. I would be more pissed if I had to come to work in 6+ inches of snow with ice than just bitterly cold. Cold I can deal with, horrible driving/weather conditions due to snow and ice are not at all fun.
So here are some other reasons why I am ok with this extremely cold weather. (Please note: I am by no means saying I love this weather, but as winter goes I would much rather have this then any amount of snow and/or ice.)
- No wet shoes from walking through the piles of snow
- No shoveling snow or salting sidewalks/driveways
- I have fewer headaches with this extreme cold
- I enjoy snuggling with anything! (husband, cats, blankets) It is always better to snuggle when it is cold!
- I enjoy snuggling and watching TV (or also for those who like to watch movies or read – this is the perfect weather to do so!)
- I actually now have a reason to NOT do anything at all, on account of it being too cold! (I especially enjoy this one!)
- Hot chocolate, hot tea, hot coffee, hot broth – they all taste better in cold weather!
- Getting to use my remote car starter (or for those who have heated seats it is great weather for that)
- Everyone looks just as silly as you do bundled up in their goofy hats, boots, gloves, coats, ect….
- Being able to wear scarves and gloves and those goofy hats!
- Knowing there is always someplace else that is colder than here
Please don’t ruin this by listing higher gas bills, pumping gas in the cold and other negative remarks! This is my happy it is cold list! You can only list things that are good about cold weather!

What was your favorite Superbowl commercial?
I really like the Bud Light “Slap Fight” ad. (it should be or will be posted soon above from youtube – youtube is a little slow today) We were cracking up during this commercial!!!! I really think all the Bud Light commercials were pretty good, they always make me laugh!
I also thought the GM Robot Unemployment commercial was cute and the sprint ad for Connectile Dysfunction, I just thought that was a clever play on words and the cheesy music in the back was awesome.
What were your favorite commercials?
Click Here for a list of commercials
I Love this stuff!
I LOVE this stuff! Udderly sMOOth, udder cream! I started using this stuff last wednesday and I am already noticing a big difference on how my hands feel and look! I am truly amazed!
Udderly Smooth was originally developed for use on Dairy cows but since has become a healing product for many people!
I have just been using it at night (and still using my same B&BW lotion during the day). It seems to be making a big difference! It is a little to greasy at first for me for during the day, as I tend to have oily palms or something, but at night it is great! I suggest this as it seems to be bringing some life and moisture into my dull and very dry hands! I actually bought mine at Ace Hardware - hahaha! I haven't seen where else it is sold, but I can let you know!

I Love this show!
I love the TV show the Dog Whisperer with Cesar Milan on the national geographic channel. IT IS AWESOME!!!
Cesar rehabilitates dogs that do not act correctly - but more important re-trains the humans who let alot of these behaviors happen (normally un-itentionally)! Last night I watched 3 episodes I recorded and was just amazed at how quickly and by doing basically the same things (slightly modified) in each situation he gets the dog to obey. It is mainly always the people who just don't know how to manage their dogs who learn what they should or shouldn't be doing! SO COOL! I would say for any dog lover this is defiantly a great show to watch! I am defiantly hooked and a huge fan!
His Philosophy:
Cesar counsels people to calmly, assertively, and consistently give their dogs rules, boundaries and limitations to establish themselves as solid pack leaders and to help correct and control unwanted behavior. He doesn't believe in "quick fixes," even though changing some behaviors can appear to happen in a relatively short period of time. None of those changes will "stick," however, unless the human acts consistently with his/her dog every day to keep unwanted behaviors from returning. In Cesar's opinion, no one should ever hit or yell at a dog to correct unwanted behavior.

I Miss You......
P.S. - do you still call your engagement ring your engagement ring once you are married or do you refer to everything as your wedding rings? Or does it matter - just curious?!?!
