I Love...

My New Shower Cap(s)!!!

I got this shower cap from AVON (visit through Nadja here) for only $1.99!!! I KNOW. I thought it was such a good deal I got 2 of course. Let me tell you, as someone who typically washes her hair twice a week, a shower cap is very important. But I just never seem to find one that is an all around good product. Which means I want something that is cute, something durable, AND something not expensive. Places like Amazon and Drugstore.com do sell them, and some are very affordable & cute but some are also cheaply made or sell for $15....ouch. I would rather continue with my hair pulled back tightly, headband on, don't let my face get near the water routine I do most days instead of paying more then $5 for one of these.

So here is exactly why I like it:

1) It is WAY cute!
2) Fits really well over the head so water will not get in. It fits well because it has an elastic band that is snug, but not so tight it hurts.
3) Very durable, this gem may only be $1.99 but it ain't made cheaply folks.
4) Brings me to my next point - it is AFFORDABLE.
5) Did I mention how stink'n cute it is?
6) I loved that plastic smell that it had when I opened the bag
7) It is not "old person" looking. Meaning, it is not an ivory colored shower cap with ruffles. (boring)
8) It is from AVON. I use to order AVON all the time and recently started it up again (uh, thank you). I have never really been disappointed in anything I buy from them.
9) It has pastel colored polka dots...and who DOESN'T enjoy that, especially at 7:30 in the a.m.
10) I now have a new accessory for the shower and that is simply awesome.

I think everyone should get a couple of these (and some other things from AVON) right away. Even you people who wash your hair everyday, come on, do you really have to wash your hair everyday. I think not...it is cool to be greazy.

I will take a little of that. NO. Well how about some of those? NO. What about...NO.

So I went to Subway to get a veggie sub for dinner and this is how it went down. (btw I went to an actual store...not a subway in a gas station)

Conversation:
Me: "I would like a veggie sub on monterey cheddar"
Subway Girl: "We are out of that. Actually ALL we have is wheat."
Me: "That is fine." (Funny thing it WAS fine, I get wheat 99.9% of the time. That is what I get for switching it up.)
SG: "What cheese?"
Me: "Provolone, please."
SG: "We are out of provolone."
Me: "American then."
SG: "Would you like the works?"
Me: "No I will take lettuce, tomato, pickles and black olives."
SG: "We are out of pickles and tomatoes."
Me: "Ok, just the lettuce and black olives and a few green peppers."
(sidenote: She then proceeds to put what looked like 2 pieces of lettuce on my veggie sub...why do they do that?!?! I get veggie subs alot and they always skimp on the lettuce. Bad form subway artists, bad form.)
Me: "May I have some more lettuce."
SG: "ok. Anything else?"
Me: "Parmesan cheese, and a little Italian dressing."
Wait for it....
SG: "We are out of italian dressing. I am sorry."
Me: "Some oil and vinegar then."

In the meantime the people behind me walked out after they heard everything that the store did not have. Quote "You have nothing - no bread, no cheese, no meat, no pickles, no business." I didn't care all that much, I actually felt bad...you could tell they were frustrated as well. But I did find it weird that a subway store was out of ALL the breads but wheat along with some other basic things. I mean if you wanted a sub on any bread other then wheat, with ham, provolone, tomato, pickles, onions, and Italian dressing.....well you would be shit out of luck my friends.

Not Everything Should Be Turned Into A Musical.

So I heard today that they are making a Broadway Musical of Spider-Man. It is called "Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark" and will feature music and lyrics by U2’s Bono and the Edge. It will make its way to the stage in 2010. Evan Rachel Wood announced she will be in the production as Mary Jane.

Uh, ok....interesting.

Thoughts?

The Oscars - Yep I am a Hater

So I know there may be people who disagree, but overall I have to say I did not like the Oscars. I mean, Hugh was fun and there were some good moments, but overall I was NOT impressed at all.

I actually recorded it and watched it tonight. It only took me about 45 minutes to get through, fast forwarding through many of the boring speeches and A MILLION commercials.

What I liked:
- Hugh Jackman, though I don't know how I am going to feel about him after all that singing and dancing when I go to watch X-Men: Wolverine this summer. But overall, he was fun, charming, grateful, didn't try too hard to be something he isn't and handsome. very nice.
- The opening number was fun
- The outfits
- I think the right people/movies won

What I didn't like:
- Pretty much everything else....
- All the flipp'n musical numbers. I didn't know if I was watching the Oscars or the Tony's
- Beyonce IN those musical numbers
- Talking about the actors before they handed out the award - I didn't like it at all. I mean come on, let's pump up their ego's just a little more. I am sure that wasn't the intention, but that is how it came off to me. HATED IT.
- The In Memoriam. I liked the singing, but I did not like the camera moving all around. The camera should be still on the people that we are remembering.
- Why were the high school musical people there?
- They seemed to show Brad & Angelina every 15 minutes on the camera. I think they had a camera just stationed there.
- That it ran over (like always) and it cut off the end of the Oscars for those of us recording.
- Oscars: 45 minutes; Commercials: 3 hours

Overall, it was just boring & stupid to me this year. Sorry, Academy Awards...maybe next year.

My Secret Confession

So it is no secret I am a fan of rock music and heavy metal. But what you may not know is that this rock girl has a major soft spot for cheesy romance songs. Yep, it is true....and I am NOT afraid to admit it. Those pop/love songs just pull at my heart strings every time.

So that is why I just HAVE to get this CD. It is from the Time Life series and it is the Dreams Collection. Ahhh. 30 of some of the most soothing and romantic pop songs of the 90's and today.

Talk To Me...

If I wore this would you still be friends with me?

Say yes, PLEASE say yes.

So do you think when people "dress" like this it is fashion or represents a clever and individual style....or is the person just looking for attention and being completely ridiculous?

I go with ridiculous.

Dang It Sarah McLachlan

So we all know that commercial for the prevention of animal cruelty, BCSPCA, featuring Sarah McLachlan and her song Angel. That commercial gets me EVERY time, so I typically just fast forward or change the channel because if not the tears will pour out.

So today I am listening to the radio and next thing I know I hear the song Angel and I start tearing up. What the…. really Jenn?! Yeah, in my head I start seeing the abused dogs and cats and I start to loose it. I think they put some subliminal messages in there or something. So now are you telling me I can never hear that song without thinking of that commercial. I mean I LOVE Sarah and that song was so sweet, but now all I think of are those animals eyes (or eye) looking up at me asking for help and love.

Not Cool, Sarah. NOT COOL.

If you need me I will be in the bathroom...crying.

4. For being one of the kindest and caring people I know.
5. Dear Aunt Halsene, I am so grateful for the time we had together, but more so I am grateful that you are finally in a better place and suffering no more. It would be selfish of ANY of us wanting you to stay and I know we are all thankful that you will no longer have to go through any more pain or confusion.

2-10-09
1. The smell of clean laundry
2. Bleach
3. When friends text or email me pictures of their kids

2. His Laugh. He has the most contagious and hilarious laugh EVER.
3. His eyes. I can only hope our kids have his color eyes.
4. He is passionate. When he is talking about things he believes in he is very passionate. Some people do not like this because they feel he comes off as rude if they have a different opinion on the subject matter. However, he is not rude but really he is just challenging you to look at what you believe in and be JUST as passionate about it and express it to him. He likes people to be logical and passionate about what they believe in.
5. He is himself and comfortable with who he is and doesn’t care what people think. I wish I could be that comfortable with myself.

If You Need Us We Will Be At The Movies

As some one who LOVES movies and going to the movies, I decided to give you a list of the Top 10 Moives I am looking forward to seeing from now through summer.

1) March 6 - WATCHMAN!!!!! I am seriously pumped about this movie, I love comic book/graphic novel type movies and this one just looks so cool! Terry actually got me the graphic novel to read - love it!

2) March 20 - I Love You, Man - This just looks like a fun Sunday afternoon movie. I adore Paul Rudd and think that this is one of those movies that if we go to see it, it will be fun. If not then no biggie, we will catch it on DVD. But it looks fun. Plus Terry owes me a movie like this for making me go see Friday the 13th *shivers*

3) April 8 - Dragonball Evolution - OK, I know what you are thinking. The only reason I put this one on here is because my husband wants to see it and I am pretty sure we are going. Plus I use to watch the Dragonball cartoons with him, so sadly I have an idea of what is going on. I am REALLY hoping this one waits till DVD, but it is suppose to have some pretty good fighting.

4) May 1 - X-Men Origins: Wolverine - LOVE the X-Men movies and I just think this movie looks really good!

5) May 8 - Star Trek XI - This is another one that just looks awesome and that I am excited to see!

6) May 15 - Angels and Demons - I have heard that this book was actually better then The Da Vinci Code and I am hoping this movie is better as well. I really enjoy these types of movies and thinking about what "secrets" are out there.

7) June 5 - Land of the Lost - Um, who DIDN'T love this show growing up! I know I loved it and therefore I am really looking forward to this movie. Oh yeah, and Will Ferrell and Anna Friel (from Pushing Daisies) is in it...so I am pretty certain I will laugh.

8) June 26 - Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - Um, one word - AWESOME!!!! I saw the trailer this weekend and it looks SUH-WEEEET!

9) July 17 - Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - I mean DUH! We have been waiting for this movie FOREVER and you can bet I will be there opening weekend fighting my way through screaming teenage girls to watch this movie. And then I will probably go back a couple more times JUST because I am so excited about it!

10) August 7 - G.I. Joe - Looks pretty kick-ass. Again, can you see the type of movies I enjoy.

Also, as I was looking through lists of upcoming releases I came across a few that sound interesting but that I had no idea were coming out! So here are a few bonus movies that look cool, but most likely a wait till DVD pick.

* February 20 - The Velveteen Rabbit (kids) - It looked like a fun movie.

* April 24 - Mutant Chronicles - I still don't know 100% what this is about but it looked cool and it had a good cast, including Ron Perlman & John Malkovich...so I am thinking I might like it.

* October 16 - Where the Wild Things Are - Who didn't like this book!!! No trailers yet, but I was excited.

I Love....

My comfy pants.

Call them yoga pants, sweat pants, workout pants, pj pants, track pants, comfy pants, fat pants….whatever you wear I just LOVE them. Within 5 minutes of getting home you can bet I will be in these pants and a comfy sweatshirt. Seriously, walk in the house, pet the cats, take off my shoes, change my clothes and I am set for the evening. I see no reason if I am home to be in anything other then the most comfortable, stretchy and elastic waist banded pants I can find.

And I know everyone is with me on this.

So to my comfy pants, I love you! If it wasn’t for you I would most likely be miserable in my regular pants or walking around with NO pants…which would just be traumatic in SO many ways and for so many people.

PSA - Phone Conversations

I am in the mood to rant.

So here is the thing, I am not a fan of talking on the phone. I don’t hate it completely, infact sometimes it can be rather nice. But in general I am just not going to pick up the phone and talk to someone for hours on end. I very much limit the amount of time I spend on the phone. And if I am being honest, I DO screen my calls….sometimes I just don’t want to talk at all. I think it comes down to the facts that I (A.) have a short attention span on the phone and thus get easily distracted and (B.) get easily annoyed when I am on the phone.

The short attention span thing, well it doesn’t mean I am bored talking to you specifically I just get bored holding a tiny phone up to my ear and talking into that. Plus if something is on TV, or I hear a noise, or I see something shinny….I will pay attention to that because it is right infront of me and then I will semi-tune out the person on the phone. Sorry. I KNOW this is bad, but again I say that I think it comes down to the fact that I get bored on the phone. So how long do you have on the phone with me?

Well let us say L=the length of time I can be on the phone before I start fading into la la land.

L= [(Frequency of which we talk )*( The topic of conversation)^2] – the day of the week / where I am in my menstrual cycle – the last time Terry annoyed me + 6

So there you go, easy right. Use that formula to figure out the best time to reach me and when you will have the most of my attention.

You are welcome.

Besides getting easily distracted, I also get easily annoyed on the phone with people.

Here are some things that annoy me when I am talking on the phone:

1) Call Waiting. It SUCKS. I hate when I am on the phone with someone and they tell me to “hold on a minute, I have another call”. What, um I don’t think so, you are talking to ME, I called first that person can wait. I also don’t like when someone answers their phone and tells me that they are on the other line and to either call them back or ask me “what do you want, quickly…I am on the other line”. Again, I say if you were on the other line why the hell did you answer the phone in the first place. Seriously, I would have been more than happy to talk to your voicemail instead of either having to call back or to feel rushed in what I have to say.

2) Chewing while on the phone. Don’t EVER eat anything or chew gum loudly while you talk to me. I am not kidding about this, loud eating will put me in the crazy house….well I will be there anyways, this will just get me there sooner. Finish eating or spit out your gum and THEN call me. If I call you while you are eating please tell me so I can call back when you are done. This is seriously a non-negotiable point.

3) Talking to me AND talking to people in the room with you. Please don’t try to carry on conversations with other people while you are on the phone with me. This is just rude and I will most likely hang up on you until you are ready to talk just to me.

4) Speaker phone. Don’t put me on speaker phone (my parents are the ONLY exception to this rule). Speaker phone is SO distracting to me and I hate the delay.

5) Silence. If we are carrying on a nice conversation and it just flows I love that, but when we start getting to the areas of silence where we are trying to think of something to say to each other so we can “keep talking”, well I don’t like that. The minute the bouts of silence start coming, that is when you start losing me.

There was no real point to this story, unless you have ever called me and wonder why I can be a bit awkward on the phone or if you wonder why I don’t call more often. These are the reasons. Are they logical, Probably not… well except for the chewing while talking to me, that could get you hurt.

Anyone else not a fan of the phone conversations?

The Little Things...

Today at work we are getting TWO new copiers. I can not begin to tell you how excited I am about this. Yes, I know that is a bit sad….but seriously I am pumped. The copier has been a piece of crap since I started working here and has just got gradually worse over the year. You know the episode from The Office where they are fighting between a new copier and chairs…..well I think that copier was ours!

But now, well now we have these totally cute and really fast copiers. Now I can be more productive, and by productive I mean I can get my work done faster so I have more time to spend on the blog. Aw…..life is good.

Why Yahoo, WHY?!?!?!?!?

So I found out that beginning on February 12, 2009, CBS Radio will now power LAUNCHcast Radio, the radio that is available through yahoo and also on my messenger. They say that “LAUNCHcast Radio will still be accessible from the Yahoo Site, however, it will be hosted and operated by CBS Radio rather than by Yahoo. As part of the transition to CBS Radio, the LAUNCHcast Plus premium service will be closing on February 12, 2009.”

Noooooooo. This makes me sad. I just found the yahoo launchcast plus premium radio in November and I have spent the past months fine-tuning (really jenn – yes really) my radio to have ALL my favorite artists and songs. It is practically perfect and seems to really know what I am in the mood to listen too at any given time of the day. Even when it plays Red Red Wine, it knows I secretly really wanted to hear that song.

They sent out a nice email and will reimburse me for whatever is left on my subscription, but I am sad that I will no longer get my specific yahoo station, though they will still offer some stations that I am sure I will enjoy….just not as awesome as MY station and they will now have commercials. Boo. I also learned that xm-radio will no longer be offering free xm-radio online. Again – Noooooooooooooooo! Actually this just pisses me off, I pay a decent amount each year to have my xm-radio I should get it free online. Yahoo, I understand….it was something extra I wanted to pay for on my own but xm-radio, well they are just being dicks.

So now it is just 2 more days of my radio station and back to the standard radio with commercials. Yahoo radio, you will be missed dearly. *sigh*

In Memory......

I found out last night that my Aunt Halsene passed away. I think she is technically my Great Great Aunt, but we only know her as our Spunky Aunt Halsene. She was 102 years old, I believe. She has not been doing well over the last 5 years or so and I am happy that she is finally at peace. It is really hard seeing your family members who were once so active and spunky become easily confused and unaware of what was going on, very weak and stuck in a nursing home. Honestly, that is no way for a person to have to live, especially someone who you love and care about SO much. It is sad that she will physically no longer be with us, but it is a blessing that she can finally be at rest and suffering no more.

In honor of her, here are just a few of my favorite memories about our Aunt Halsene:

-She had this jar of buttons she collected and when my cousins & I would go over we would just play with the buttons in the jar forever! We would string them up on thread or stack them up.
-I am named after her mother!
-She would read these romance novels ALL the time!
-She made fantastic food! Seriously, it was great! My mom actually passed down her “secret” piecrust recipe to me a year or so ago.
-We use to play upstairs in her house because it had a cool layout and would run around her basement for hours. I know she loved having us over there just playing and we loved to go over.
-I actually have her husband’s record player. (which reminds me of both of them)
-She loved to garden and was always VERY active.
-Said whatever she thought. She was a hoot!
-She was just a kind and giving person.
-My cousins and I would hangout there a couple days after school and before we had track practice. Halsene and Grandma would have pop for us and make sandwiches for us. I am SO glad that I had the opportunity to spend that time with her.
-Just talking to her. Someone who has lived as long as she had and who has seen as much as she had is just an absolute delight to talk to.

I have SO many more memories, and I feel honored that I actually got to be around Halsene and I appreciate all my time with her.

I will always love you
xo

You Like Me, You Really Like Me

So last week A Couple More Hours mentioned how she can monitor when people visit her blog. I didn’t realize you could do this and asked how. She told me about the website statcounter.com! So today I added it to my blog and have been monitoring how many people visit. Can I just say that this instant gratification of seeing that people actually are reading my blog makes me SO happy!

When you don’t get comments all the time you kind of wonder if people are reading what you write and if it is really worth writing blogs. But now that I SEE people are visiting my blog, I feel a lot better. Yes I am needy and feel self-importance when people like me….so.

I will say that I really don’t understand what all the links mean and don’t know who visits my blog…so stalkers you are safe for now and please keep reading, I just care that since this morning I got 25 page loads, 19 unique visitors (whatever the heck that means), and one returning visitor! Yessssssss. This might very well be the motivation I need to keep blogging and get out of my blogging slump!

Does anyone else track his or her blog stats? Does anyone else feel a sense of accomplishment or self-worth when people visit their blogs? (The answer should probably be "no" for the second question...but it is yes for me) ;)

I love you Kristen!

There Are Just Some Things That Shouldn't Be Marketed For Valentines Day

So I signed up to receive special offers from Rosetta Stone, the language learning system. I want to learn a new language and some day I will have the $500 to do so.

Anyways I got an email today that was marketing Rosetta Stone for Valentines Day. Hmmmm, really? I don’t really care to celebrate Valentines Day anyways, usually just a card but no gifts, but if I did celebrate and we were going to be spending that kind of money on each other I wouldn’t want Rosetta Stone…well not unless a vacation to the place I was learning the language was with it. I know I said I want it, but as a gift on a day that celebrates "love"….not so much.

In the email there was a picture of a couple holding hands and it said, “Rediscover what you love about the World.” “Share a new language-learning journey this year with someone you love. Rosetta Stone makes it easy with our Valentines Day Offer.”

This really just made me laugh!

Rosetta Stone isn’t the worst, here are other products/companies I thought that should probably avoid marketing specifically with Valentines Day Specials. Join in!!

A Necessity For Me.

I would first like to say I am not the most graceful of creatures. Even years of dance when I was younger could not help my inherent clumsiness. And it is just not about tripping or running into walls on a daily basis, it also happens when I eat or drink or stand in place. I am sure I am even clumsy when I sleep.

So one can see why I feel like I can not go anywhere with out my Tide to Go Stain Pens. I probably spill something on me at least once a day….probably more. My biggest challenge is learning the proper "drink to mouth technique" so that I do not spill stuff on me. (i.e making sure cup is fully up to my mouth before tipping, making sure you do not talk while trying to drink, making sure you do not tip cup back too far...things like that) But this little Stain Pen makes it OK to be a bit on the clumsy side. I have spilled coffee, pasta sauce, & soup on me (not all at one time, but I wouldn't ever count that scenario out) and just a little scrub with this pen and PRESTO - gone!

I seriously love this pen and it goes anywhere I do. If you are a bit on the clumsy side and tend to spill things on you regularly, you too should have one of these within close proximity at all times.
