Is This What They Call....Irony?

Ok, I understand this is very sad, BUT I had to laugh a little not at his death but at the way in which he died.  It is a very interesting quirk of fate :)

"The Segway Company Owner Accidentally Dies Riding Segway over Cliff"

Story here & here or below.

“James Heselden, the owner of the Segway company, died in an apparent accident involving the upright two-wheeled vehicle on Sunday.

The 62-year-old businessman was pulled from the River Wharfe, in Yorkshire, England, according to police reports, and a Segway-like vehicle was also recovered at the scene.

According to a report in British newspaper the Telegraph, Heselden, who was known as Jimi, was discovered by a passerby after apparently falling from a cliff above the river. Police do not believe the death to be suspicious.

Heselden was worth about £166 million. He was a former miner who made his fortune from his company, Hesco Bastion, which developed a wire cage water containment system which was used to control floods and used in military defense.

He was also heralded for his charity work, including the British veterans' charity, Help for Heroes.

The Segway, a motorized scooter, is controlled by the direction the rider leans. It used gyroscopes to stay upright. The device was invented by Dean Kamen, who sold his company to Heselden earlier this year.”

I am not laughing at his death, but come on - the irony is humorous!  And how did he miss that cliff?

I will take a little of that. NO. Well how about some of those? NO. What about...NO.

So I went to Subway to get a veggie sub for dinner and this is how it went down. (btw I went to an actual store...not a subway in a gas station)

Conversation:
Me: "I would like a veggie sub on monterey cheddar"
Subway Girl: "We are out of that. Actually ALL we have is wheat."
Me: "That is fine." (Funny thing it WAS fine, I get wheat 99.9% of the time. That is what I get for switching it up.)
SG: "What cheese?"
Me: "Provolone, please."
SG: "We are out of provolone."
Me: "American then."
SG: "Would you like the works?"
Me: "No I will take lettuce, tomato, pickles and black olives."
SG: "We are out of pickles and tomatoes."
Me: "Ok, just the lettuce and black olives and a few green peppers."
(sidenote: She then proceeds to put what looked like 2 pieces of lettuce on my veggie sub...why do they do that?!?! I get veggie subs alot and they always skimp on the lettuce. Bad form subway artists, bad form.)
Me: "May I have some more lettuce."
SG: "ok. Anything else?"
Me: "Parmesan cheese, and a little Italian dressing."
Wait for it....
SG: "We are out of italian dressing. I am sorry."
Me: "Some oil and vinegar then."

In the meantime the people behind me walked out after they heard everything that the store did not have. Quote "You have nothing - no bread, no cheese, no meat, no pickles, no business." I didn't care all that much, I actually felt bad...you could tell they were frustrated as well. But I did find it weird that a subway store was out of ALL the breads but wheat along with some other basic things. I mean if you wanted a sub on any bread other then wheat, with ham, provolone, tomato, pickles, onions, and Italian dressing.....well you would be shit out of luck my friends.

And isn't it Ironic....Don't you think

The word ironic is sometimes used to describe events and/or circumstances that might better be described as simply "coincidental", “improbable", or “unexpected”.* To me, when something ironic happens I usually follow the situation with words or phrases such as “really”, “come on now”, “are you serious”, (or my personal fav.) “what the f&$k!”.

An example of irony:

There is a job fair that the job solutions agency told me about which is being held at (wait for it) O. Community College….my previous employer.

Yep, that God she really likes her irony!
