Time and Loss.

Time is a funny thing.  You always think you will have more of it.  Well, at least I do.

Maybe it is wanting more time during the day to get your work done or spend with your family.

Or perhaps more time to get your chores/errands done.

Maybe more time on the weekends to do all the things that need done vs. those things you want to do.

Or more time to see those that you care about the most.

I am always looking for more time.  But that is what tomorrows are for, right?!  That is what I have always said.  Oh, I didn’t get to XYZ today….I will do it tomorrow…or next week….or next month….

But again, time is a funny thing and sometimes, completely out of the blue when you think there is plenty of time left, the reality smacks you right in the face that there is just no more time left.

I write this post for myself as a memory.  A reminder of just how precious time is.

Happy Birthday, Friend!!

So I was getting ready to write a post for the lovely twopretzels birthday about what a great person she is, and how she always remembers to wish you a happy birthday, or send you a message if you have something going on, or be there for you (even 100’s of miles away) to listen and offer support, or to send random emails when she sees something that reminds her of you and that makes you smile!

But as I was getting ready to say all this and wish her a happy birthday I noticed a new post on her blog.

Of course I go over to read it and this was her post on HER birthday.

See post HERE and read more about the cause she is talking about.

THIS is a perfect example of WHO Kylee is and why she is loved by so many people and why she is an amazing and beautiful (on the inside and out) individual.

She truly cares about the people in her life.  And I mean truly.

Kylee, thank you for being YOU and for being such a genuinely compassionate and inspiring person.  You are loved by SO many, today and every day.

Happy Birthday, my friend.

And THIS birthday post to Kylee was written by one of her close friends and is just lovely and I don’t think can be said much better, so I won’t even try and just say “ditto”!

So a friend of mine who is a stay at home mother of three gorgeous girls just started a business in the last few months and I hope you will check out her site because she does amazing work.

She crochets hats for little kids and these hats are AWESOME. (How she has time do this while taking care of a 5 year old, 3 year old and 1 year old is beyond me...but she does and these hats are fantastic!)

This is the hat she made for Henry and I LOVE IT and so does Henry. (I need to take a better photo of Henry in the hat for her FB page....you know since Henry will be the next Gerber Baby and all.)

New Blogger Friend

One of my dearest friends is blogging!  She is writing posts that surround pictures she takes that capture things in her life, which I think is a fun idea!

April is very creative and talented.  HERE is a post of the AMAZING things she made for me for my shower…..seriously, I am in LOVE with that diaper bag!

She also made this camera case and gave a little tutorial on her blog on how to make it.  I saw it in person last weekend and it is pretty darn cute!

Dearest NaBloPoMo....

Dear NaBloPoMo:

Well it looks like you have come and gone and unfortunately I have succumbed to your mighty power.  You, my friend, are a formidable foe.  Touché NaBloPoMo…..I tip my hat to you sir.

As I look back at this past month (queue music for sappy montage) I must say that we did have some great times together.  You saw me become a red head, you were there when I got a little serious, you laughed with me at my awesome joke, and remember when I made my own NaBloPoMo pictures….yeah, good times.  And even though I did not complete this challenge (only made it to 26 posts in 30 days) the times we did have were so special.  Aw…..such memories.

And even though this all must come to an end, this past month has rejuvenated the spirit I had when I first started blogging…..and for that Dearest NaBloPoMo, I am grateful.  I have been worrying so much about writing the RIGHT thing, I just forgot to write.  And even though I wish you were not in the month of November (I mean come on….November? Really?!) I still thank you for the last 30 days.  I will never forget you.  Ok I most likely will forget you until someone reminds me of you next year, but do not take it personally as I have the memory of a fly.

Until we meet again NaBloPoMo.
Love Always, Jenn

And to all my fellow bloggers, THANK YOU!

Thank you for all your comments. Thank you for being such a wonderful support system when sometimes I may be feeling down.   Thank you for your advice & honesty.  Thank you for laughing at my crazy jokes and stories.  Thank you for making ME laugh with your hilarious posts.  Thank you for loving pictures of my cats.  Thank you for sharing pictures of your pets & children (they truly make my day when I see them).  Thank you for giving me something to read, not just because I am bored but because I want to feel connected to friends.  Thank you for being some of the kindest, funniest, and most fantastic people I know (or sorta know). Thank you all for just being you!  I am so happy and I genuinely feel lucky to have this means of which to meet some truly amazing individuals and to be able to connect with you all on a regular basis.  Thank you.

Until 2011.....

You can gain entry into the give-a-way by visiting her blog HERE.

Ooooooops, did I send you to the wrong site, my bad…..I would never  try to detour any of you from registering for this give-a-way to increase my chances of winning. That would just be evil and we all know I am anything but evil! Mwah ahahahaha.

Now, I think there are multiple ways to enter, but you don’t need to worry yourself with those details. All you need to do is stay away from go over to her blog (there is a link somewhere on my blog) and comment ONE time on her post. But just once, I don’t think she wants her comments section all filled up with your remarks….so please be mindful of that.

I really want to win and am sharing this with you all because I want 3 more entries she is a good friend who is crazy talented and I want people to see the cool stuff she makes before it ends up at my house.

So visit this crafty chica’s blog in 2 days or so! Oh, and if you want, feel free to leave your entry comment here on MY blog and I will make sure that W. gets them before 8pm on Friday. What, it is over Wednesday….oh that is my bad again.

Letter Writing – A Lost Form of Showing Others You Care

So my dear friend April (who recently just entered the world of occasional blogging here at A.D.’s Blog) does something that I think is very uncommon in today’s society. She writes letters. I truly love this about her!

Today I got a letter from her and I have to tell you, IT. MADE. MY. DAY. She always picks the cutest card to mail the letter in and the prettiest matching paper to write a nice little letter. She is so good at this, probably because she is just a genuinely sweet, creative and thoughtful person.

Unfortunately we don't always get to talk on the phone as much as we would like and though we email, there is just something extra personal and special about a hand-written letter. There is something so fun about pulling your mail out of the mailbox and amongst the bills, ads and junk mail you find this special envelope containing a letter from a friend. It is truly great!

I wish I was someone who did this more often for my friends. There should be no excuse, but I am sure I can come up with at least 20 right now. So , I think I am going to try to remain in closer contact with my friends by writing the occasional letter to them. Just random thoughts, pleasant stories, or just a kind “Hello” to bring a smile to their faces. Yep, back to the simpler times before the ease of technology took over our lives. Of course this doesn't mean I am stopping the emailing...I mean, come on.

Do you write letters? Would you rather write letters or do you enjoy the instant gratification of texting, IM, or emailing?

I know before I start writing letters I need to email and call my friends more often….it’s a flaw of mine, but do know I care and I try!

No Stopping Me Now!!!

I just found this weekend on our Oxygen On Demand Channel that we get Karaoke!!

HELL YEAH!!!

Yep, you pick the song you want (there are maybe 30 or so) and then it plays on your TV just like Karaoke! Of course my friends and I HAD to try it out! A little Whitesnake, "Here I Go Again", Some "Hello" by Lionel Richie, and a few others!

Oh, there is nothing like butchering classic Karaoke songs with your friends to make for an awesome evening!

Lets all text at the same time!

So exactly at 12:00 a.m. on New Years Eve I was in the process of sending out a bunch of HAPPY NEW YEAR texts to my friends and family. Of course so was a good chunk of the population - thus, creating some phone glitches. Yes, as everyone celebrates the New Year, people send out texts or make phone calls exactly at 12:00. The phone lines got a bit over flooded. Therefore not all of my texts got out at all, some didn't get out until 1:30 a.m., and I received some after 2 am (that were sent earlier in the evening)!!!

It is interesting though...I read that over 1 billion text messages will go out on the four major phone networks on New Years Eve in the U.S. alone!!! And you imagine that a good chunk will go out when the ball drops at midnight! So of course, there will be delays.

It got me thinking that it is kinda cool thinking people are doing the same thing you are...sending well wishes of love and happiness for a Happy New Year!! It is a small moment where people are celebrating together the hope for a new year....it is touching.

P.S. If you didn't get a text from me, received it at a weird time, or I didn't respond...please know it was my networks fault!!!

"LUCKY"

So last night I received this little gem at a gift exchange I participated in. It is a Napoleon Dynamite vibrating/music playing toothbrush! I was totally THRILLED and surprised to receive this! I had talked about it a few months ago, Click Here for original post....but I kinda just forgot about it and never went to get one.

I have to say I used this last night and it is totally fun! My husband could even hear it when he stood by me....we were so excited and played it so many times my teeth hurt a bit afterwards! Sometimes if I brushed too fast the song would speed up and when I stopped the music stopped. Also, the harder I brushed the louder it got! This is really such a cute idea!

Thanks A. for hours of brushing fun!

(P.S. Thank you TP for your explanation on how this toothbrush works! You have to check out her explanation if you have questions on how it works!)

Kids Say the Cutest Things....

So last night I met up with my two good friends (the J's) for our usual gossip, chatting, dinner evening we do every few months! As always we go to someone's house and order food from our favorite place (Mr. Spots) and then we proceeded to catch up on each others lives! It is ALWAYS a great evening!!!

Last night my friend's son Brady joined in the evening!! I believe he will be 4 this May (J. I hope that is correct) and he is just a BUNDLE of energy and fun!!! This is the age I start loving kids! I mean, they are great before and I love holding and being around other people's babies....but honestly, what do babies or toddlers do - nothing! I like when they can talk, laugh, make jokes and you can have fun with them! So anyways, Brady was ON last night! He was so funny. We played "sitting on the couch" indoor version of baseball, played with toys and laughed! By 10:30 I was exahausted!

As we were leaving Brady told us we could come back again.

And then my friend emailed us afterwards and told us what Brady said to her as we were leaving the driveway:

"I'm gonna really miss them girls."

And then apparently he wouldn't put the toys away either. He told his dad that we are coming back tomorrow.

HAHAHA!!! I love it!

What a great evening with GREAT friends full of laughter and fun!!!

Thanks ladies....I really needed that ;-)

Sentimental for a reason

So, today i felt it was necessary to bring out an older myspace post (slightly updated) to talk about my feelings on change. This is appropriate today as one of our friends makes a change in her life. I know she will be wonderful with this new and exciting opportunity and I don't really want to wish her "luck", because she doesn't need that as she is a fabulous, smart, creative and hard working person already. But what I do want to wish her is all the happiness, love, encouragement and support that we are all able to provide. I know I can speak for alot of us in saying, we will ALWAYS be here for you WHENEVER you need us. To laugh, cry, talk, anything! You are an amazing and beautiful person and I hope you enjoy EVERY moment of what is to come!!!

...................................................

Today I have to give mad props to anyone who is making a change in their life. Whether it is a new job far away, moving to a new place in search of something new/different, having the courage and/or motivation to change something in their lives that they thought they could never do, changing things slowly to get to that ultimate goal, or trying to help change someone/something around them for the better.....kudos to all of you!!!

Recently it seems that a lot of people in my life are making the attempts to change in some capacity. Whether it is through marriages/getting engaged, a new friendship or relationship, purchasing a home, new jobs, new experiences, having a baby, growing up and moving on, or any personal changes within their life.....change seems to be everywhere and in some ways inevitable!

Now with all this change over the past few months I have seen some who have already failed, some who are on the path to fail, some who work hard everyday to achieve that change and are happy doing it, some who had to post-pone change, some who have succeeded, some who are on the road to success, some who don't know what to think about the changes they have made in their lives, or even some who may not know they are changing.

However, with all these changes that have been made in their lives or about to be made, one thing remains - they attempted to do something new. Something they may have never thought they were able to accomplish. Something that - even for a moment (however long that moment may be) made them happy, scared, excited and nervous all in one! That, my friends, is the true meaning of living. Taking a chance to make a difference in your life or the life of others. We get use to the same old same old and we have a fear of taking that chance to make a change in our lives. But if we are not willing to take chances how will we know what we are able to accomplish, how far we can go, the possibilities that are out there for us?

I for one admire anyone who is willing to take that chance in life. Now, some of these individuals may have had an outcome they didn't expect as life is certainly not predictable. There may be some that may have not thought things through all the way or maybe they thought this change would be something different than what it really was or maybe they just were not ready/prepared to make the change at that particular point in their lives. But one thing I believe is true is that IF you learned from the experience/s taken in life you will have become a better person for it and you should not a hold a single regret with the attempts you have made.

I am in the process of making changes in my life, for the better I believe, and with those changes have come some additional responsibilities. Even though these changes I am making are taking a little longer to achieve then I may have originally wanted, I feel better about myself for getting the courage to take a chance. My friends who have taken a chance in their lives have motivated & educated me and I hope that in some small way we can motivate each other to have the courage, patience, strength, smarts to take advantage of changes that may be presented to each of us.

Remember you dont have to jump into anything all at once. Walking, skipping, crawling will all get you to the same place (it mat just take a little longer). Doesn't matter how you get to that change in your life just as long as you live your life and keep your eyes and mind open to the possibilities of change and chance!
