So exactly at 12:00 a.m. on New Years Eve I was in the process of sending out a bunch of HAPPY NEW YEAR texts to my friends and family. Of course so was a good chunk of the population - thus, creating some phone glitches. Yes, as everyone celebrates the New Year, people send out texts or make phone calls exactly at 12:00. The phone lines got a bit over flooded. Therefore not all of my texts got out at all, some didn't get out until 1:30 a.m., and I received some after 2 am (that were sent earlier in the evening)!!!
It is interesting though...I read that over 1 billion text messages will go out on the four major phone networks on New Years Eve in the U.S. alone!!! And you imagine that a good chunk will go out when the ball drops at midnight! So of course, there will be delays.
It got me thinking that it is kinda cool thinking people are doing the same thing you are...sending well wishes of love and happiness for a Happy New Year!! It is a small moment where people are celebrating together the hope for a new year....it is touching.
P.S. If you didn't get a text from me, received it at a weird time, or I didn't respond...please know it was my networks fault!!!
I sent a crapload of texts at midnight and was excited to get a bunch back! Yours came through at exactly midnight - my first of the new year!
