Maybe A New Tradition?!?!

So I am doing something I have never done before....I am taking my Birthday off work!

This is new to me. Ever since I graduated college I have had a job where I have had to work on my birthday b/c I have had events to plan at work that always took place very near my birthday. I have never been too upset about having to work on my birthday....because I just can't be upset on my birthday!

So I decided to take the day off, though it does feel a bit weird, and next Tuesday I will be treating myself to a nice, relaxing day. I am thinking I am going to sleep in, then have lunch with my husband, go get a facial (YAY), and then that night my husband and I will go to dinner...maybe a little PF Changs! Sounds like a pretty darn good day to me! I think I just want a day off from work more than anything, and what better excuse than your birthday!

I know there are people who do this every year and then there are people who just don't care either way. Which one are you? Any traditions you have on your Birthday?

  1. Good for you! I hope you have a WONDERFUL time. I hope this becomes a tradition.

I don't think I have any birthday traditions... :-) I just love that my birthday is in the summer, though. Makes me happy.

  2. I have never, ever worked or gone to school on my birthday. My mom started that tradition for me in kindergarten!

  3. With my birthday being in the summer as well, I never had to go to school on my birthday. So why work on that day now? I wouldn't. And I don't.

I love it. I feel like birthdays are YOUR day and you should spend it however you wish. Not answering phones or emails or dealing with annoying people at work.

  4. Last year, because it was my 30th, I was drunk and crying. I was still at work, though. This year, I have a bf - he is sooo taking me out for whatever you said.

  5. I also have a summer birthday so school was never an issue. When I had part-time summer jobs during college I always requested it off. I didn't for the first time last year and it made it seem like it was just another day, and it wasn't any fun. Now I'm back to requesting it off and I'm going with my boyfriend to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers to celebrate!

  6. My husband said that my mom and I treat my birthday like the coming of Christ, if that tells you anything. Now Athena's birthday is only 2 days before mine, so it's going to be a big ol' hooplah!!

  7. I scheduled my facial and herbal hand treatment, and let's just say I am pretty pumped!

I agree, I think you should do what makes you happy that day!

I am going to Gallery Salon & Spa in BG! They are reasonably priced and I like the atmosphere!
