Happy Thanksgiving to you and to all those people who are unable to spend today with the ones they love. Whether it is because of distance, work, sickness, not having the funds, or because you are fighting in a war....you are in my thoughts on this, a day full of love and thanks.
In the words of Linus: In the year 1621, the Pilgrims held their first Thanksgiving feast. They invited the great Indian chief Massasoit, who brought ninety of his brave Indians and a great abundance of food. Governor William Bradford and Captain Miles Standish were honored guests. Elder William Brewster, who was a minister, said a prayer that went something like this: 'We thank God for our homes and our food and our safety in a new land. We thank God for the opportunity to create a new world for freedom and justice."
Oh that Linus...always a smart cookie he is!
And on a side note: remember to keep the holiday spirit in mind when you are out tomorrow shopping!
happy turkey day!
ReplyDeletei found the same photo to use on my t-day post. :)
shopping? oh no...i refuse to go anywhere near a store tomorrow! if i did, i would lose all holiday spirit...and my mind. :)
Linus rules. I especially love him in Charlie Brown Christmas.
ReplyDeleteTo many people, the holiday spirit means throwing elbows and shoving people to get a clock/radio for $10 cheaper than any other day of the year. That's why I'll be spending Black Friday in the warm comforts of my own home. But have fun and stay safe if you go out!
