"I Didn't Understand You. Did you Say Yes?"

So I have to vent a bit and apologize upfront for the rather lengthy post.

I have a HUGE gripe with voice command. You know when you call your credit card company, bank, or pretty much anything else these days and you have to use voice command instead of pushing the buttons. This annoys me.

I called a credit card company (a well known company) and wanted to talk to a costumer service representative but now they have voice command and frankly it is irritating. I hate saying “yes”, “no”, “more options” when I could just hit the 1, 2, or 3 button….and more importantly, “0” to take me right to Customer Service. (And though I will admit some companies use a combination of the two, which still allows old-fashioned people such as myself to use the button feature, this company was not having it. No button pushing here – well except mine!)

So, I tried saying "customer service representative" half way through and just pushing "0" but it didn't understand that. I later found out I should have only said representative. (sorry I didn't get that memo) And when I did follow the rules by listening through the ENTIRE menu and answering the appropriate voice promps; that annoyingly pleasant voice questions my answer…”Did you say yes?”.

By this time the response I wanted to shout was YES YES, FOR GOD SAKE I SAID YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course I couldn’t really yell that b/c that would lead too…”I am sorry, I didn’t understand that. Did you say yes?”

UGH…get my point, I am annoyed right now just talking about how annoyed I am.

Seriously, are they trying to get people enraged?!?! Because one of two things will happen. One, I will be so seriously pissed off I will take it out on the person in India that is trying to help me or two, by the time I actually get to customer service I am so emotionally drained that I will not even care what happens, thus negating the purpose for me calling in the first place.

So in summary…..I HATE voice command.

Just give me back the option to use buttons to make the selections I want…..like pushing a button in the first place was that challenging?

P.S. I also have to say that I hate that it takes 10 minutes to even get to a human being in the first place. They make it SO hard to get to a person. Well it takes 10 minutes to get through the voice commands to get to a queue to WAIT another 10 minutes to talk to a living person all while Kenny G. plays in the background. Grrrr

Do You Remember?

Pop up video!

This is such a GREAT show!

This weekend T & I watched a couple hours of this show on VH1 Classic. I wanted more!

I don’t believe they have made newer ones since sometime in early-mid 2000….but it is still great!

I Loved Lisa Loeb! I use to imitate her look from this video when it came out!

I Love.... (2 for one)

The Foo Fighters new(er) CD – Echoes Silence Patience & Grace.

This CD is FANTASTIC! I have been listening to it non-stop since Christmas! It has harder songs, some mellow/acoustic songs, and everything in between! Just a great CD! I just love the Foo Fighters! (P.S. Dave G. is SO on my list!)

And for those who like things a bit off the wall then I suggest Ween’s new(er) CD – La Cucaracha. How does one describe their music….well you just can’t. Their stuff isn’t for everyone, especially people who question, “Why are they singing about that?”. It is just fun, eccentric, and very out there. I love it!!!

Have you heard?

Story: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22782454?GT1=10755

Congressional leaders announced a deal with the White House Thursday on an economic stimulus package that would give most tax filers refunds of $600 to $1,200, and more if they have children. This is being done to promote spending and "boost the economy" as we are on the verge (or already in) a recession. Payments could be going out in May with most people receiving them by July. The other part are tax breaks to businesses.

So what are your thoughts? Do you agree? Did they hash this out too quickly? Is this going to help our economy? What about adding spending later on?

Just Putting it Out There...

I love the TV show Torchwood! It is on BBCA and the second season kicks off this Saturday on BBCA at 9:00 p.m.!!! (Season 1 came out on DVD this past Tuesday!)

This show is getting GREAT reviews, mainly because it is awesome!! :)

It is a Sci-fi, drama show. (And a spin-off of Dr. Who) Some reviews say it is Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets X-Files but edgier! I guess that is one way to put it....I think it is its own style! It is definatly edgier and if you are not into aliens, weird stuff, sexually driven TV, and sci-fi......well then this may not be for you.

But if you are I will say this. T & I have converted my parents, my sister, her boyfriend, some of their friends, a couple of our friends, and T's brother ALL onto the show! They love it! It is creative and fun and I say WATCH IT!

Talk to me....

I am in the market for some fitness equipment. I am thinking an elliptical will be the best and the most beneficial. However, I don't want to spend a crazy amount (like over $800) but want something that is good.

I found this one at Walmart, click here, and it seems perfect but I can not find a single review on it anywhere?!?!?! I have also checked out Sears as well.

I am doing research but I thought I would ask to see if anyone had thoughts. Do you (have you) owned fitness equipment? Do you have a recommendation on what to get? Where to get it? Are elliptical's the way to go?

We don't want to go cheap but we want something usable. So any feedback would be great!!

Stercus Accidit

(That means Shit Happens in Latin – hahaha)

Twice this week I have seen things written in Latin. And made me think…I want to learn Latin.

I have always been interested in Latin (maybe from my Catholic upbringing) and I think it would be fun to take a class or just to read up on the language. I am always in aw of people who speak another language. I know a bit of Spanish, but not enough to hold a conversation that is more than “Hi, my name is Jenn. How are you and where is the bathroom!”

Do you speak another language? Any language you would like to learn?

A bit about Latin: Latin is an ancient Indo-European language that was spoken in the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire. It was also the de facto international language of science and scholarship in mid and western Europe until the 17th century. Latin spread throughout the Mediterranean and a large part of Europe. It later evolved into the languages spoken in France, Italy, Romania and the Iberian peninsula, and through them to Central and South America. It existed in two forms: Classical Latin, used in poetry and formal prose, and Vulgar Latin, a more common version spoken by the people. After the fall of the Western Roman Empire and the rise of the Catholic Church Latin became the ecclesiastical language of the Catholic Church.

Why?

Why do some people say they want to lose or have lost "LB's" instead of just saying the word pounds? It is one thing to use "lb" when writing, but not when talking.

I have heard this before and a guy at T.'s office party last weekend said it. It annoyed me....just say pounds - not "LB's"!!!

Is it a guy thing? I don't know why it bothers me so...it just does.

(Sorry if you say that, it is just one of those things I don't get.)

Where Have You Been All My Life?!?!?!

(Sorry for the crap camera phone pics. Our camera’s batteries are dead)

I am happy to announce that T & I are now proud owners of a King Size Bed!!!

YIPPIE!!!!

I cannot even tell you how thrilled we are! (And so are the cats! Look at big boy up there, he loved it!) I don’t know how we slept all these years without this bed! It is amazing!! If I could sleep on a cloud, I imagine THIS is what it would feel like!!

This bed has a foam/pillow type top, we added a big fluffy mattress pad for extra cushion, it has individually wrapped coils to help reduce movement and it is just freak’n AWESOME! Oh and it is enormous! You practically need a step stool to get into the bed and the width…well Terry and I didn’t even touch last night – it was fantastic!!

Of course, we no longer have a bedroom…we have a bed that takes up our room! However, our feelings are you are in this bed at least a 1/3 of your day…it SHOULD take up a good chunk of your bedroom!!!

If you need to get ahold of me, I will be in my new bed!

I Love....

I love that Payless now sells American Eagle shoes!!!

I bought these cute, AE mary jane pumps for $20 and they are honestly the most comfortable heel I have EVER worn. (and way cute...love the retro look!)

Typically I don't like heels at all b/c they are just not comfortable on me. And if I do wear heels, I have to buy more expensive ones (not payless ones) b/c they seem to be a bit more comfortable. These, however, after the first initial "break in" day don't even feel like I am wearing a heel. Now granted, it is only a two inch heel...but I am 5'11 and very clumsy...I don't usually go much higher than 2-3" anyways!

I wore these shoes on friday from 8:ooa.m. until 9:30 p.m. and was walking around a good chunk of the day at work and I told T. at 9:30 my feet didn't hurt a bit...I didn't want to take them off!

I am just super excited...I finally found a heel that is comfy, the perfect height, and I love the style! YAY!

My Very Own Box!!!!

My sisters boyfriends got me my very own box of Legos for Christmas! YAY!!!!

I got them last night and I couldn't have been happier!!! I know hours of fun will be had by this gift! I am TOTALLY pumped! I have been asking T. for Legos for years, and now I finally have my own box!

Thanks Will!!!

One of those days...

This is rare, but today is a two-cup of coffee day. I am DRAGGING.

Why, well b/c T & I were up with some friends late last night playing wii. We started around 6:30p.m. and at 1:30a.m. my husband was still playing wii with a couple of our friends.

We also had a wii bowling tournament (I know – we are dorks) and we will be making it a bi-weekly thing, kinda like our own wii league (I know – we are REALLY dorks).

Oh wii - how you make our day fly by like it was non-existent.

AWESOME! (for tetris fans!)

Don't mess with these mad skillz!

So this weekend I played me some Skii ball (From Game Party) on my Wii and I just needed to brag about my high score!

So the total you can get on skii ball is 900, well your truly got a score of.....

810!!!

Can you believe it?!?! That means I made the ball into the 100 point hole 8 times and missed once thus giving me 10pts. I am working on a perfectly unbeatable score of 900!

Of course some may think this only means I have been spending too much time playing Wii and I should instead be doing something more productive with my time. To those people I just say you are jealous of these skillz!!

(Please note, I am not arrogant...just kidding and proud of my score!!! haha)

AWESOME!!!

Update on Polka Floyd:

T & I went last night to see Polka Floyd and we have two words....FREAK'N AWESOME!!!

They are VERY entertaining and fun and I think do both Pink Floyd and polka music justice! It is crazy b/c many of the songs are upbeat! T & I loved it!!! And it is hard to impress T. when it comes to Pink Floyd cover bands b/c Pink Floyd is his favorite band! But T. was very impressed and LOVED it! Probably b/c they also played Syd stuff as well! So if you are not a polka fan, it doesn't matter!

This is a MUST see for fans of either polka or floyd....or well really people who just like to have a good time! (great drinking music)

Have fun for those going to Toledo tonight! I promise you will be entertained!

Sure to be a Life Changing Experience....

This Friday (Jan 4) at Howards in BG Terry, myslef and a couple of our friends are going to experience something that will change the course of our existence.

We are going to go see, none other than POLKA FLOYD! hahaha

Yes my friends, there is a polka band that sings Pink Floyd covers out there and apparently they are really good!

http://www.myspace.com/polkafloyd

Check out their Myspace. I of course laughed the entire time I was listening but once you get past what you are actually listening too they are not that bad!

So if any one is up for something truly unique....check out Polka Floyd at Howards!

Lets all text at the same time!

So exactly at 12:00 a.m. on New Years Eve I was in the process of sending out a bunch of HAPPY NEW YEAR texts to my friends and family. Of course so was a good chunk of the population - thus, creating some phone glitches. Yes, as everyone celebrates the New Year, people send out texts or make phone calls exactly at 12:00. The phone lines got a bit over flooded. Therefore not all of my texts got out at all, some didn't get out until 1:30 a.m., and I received some after 2 am (that were sent earlier in the evening)!!!

It is interesting though...I read that over 1 billion text messages will go out on the four major phone networks on New Years Eve in the U.S. alone!!! And you imagine that a good chunk will go out when the ball drops at midnight! So of course, there will be delays.

It got me thinking that it is kinda cool thinking people are doing the same thing you are...sending well wishes of love and happiness for a Happy New Year!! It is a small moment where people are celebrating together the hope for a new year....it is touching.

P.S. If you didn't get a text from me, received it at a weird time, or I didn't respond...please know it was my networks fault!!!
