Talk To Me....Thanksgiving Edition

Ok, with Thanksgiving quickly approaching I thought I would do a special Thanksgiving "Talk to me.." over the next few days leading up to the big day! Plus, sometimes Thanksgiving gets overlooked...we need to give it, its time to shine too!!!

Question one:

Any Thanksgiving family traditions you remember from growing up?

Mine in the comments.

  1. The one thing I remember most about thanksgiving is the morning! Though I don't know if it was a "tradition" our thanksgiving would be the same every year!!

    1) Our parents would wake us up in time to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!!!

2)We would have something for breakfast (mom might make rolls or eggs or something b/c we wouldn't eat dinner until the evening).

3)We would then help out as much as we could, but typically not allowed to enter the kitchen if both parents were in there!!

    4) The dog would be laying right in the middle of the kitchen floor...smelling the Turkey!

    5) My sister and I would be in charge of setting the table and taking drink orders!!

    I LOVE thanksgiving!!!

  2. as a kid, we always watched the parade and had a nice breakfast (WK...did we live in the same house??? your morning as a kid sounds eerily like mine! haha).

now, we put our xmas tree up on thanksgiving morning while watching the parade (it may seem odd, but we started this tradition when i was pregnant w/ our first kid and i just KNEW that if waited past turkey day to do it, i'd be too HUGE and too tired to help.)

i have yet to "inherit" the big meal....so we just head over to my parent's eat dinner there. sometimes we end the night w/ a game of Trivial Pursuit.

  3. haha! that is funny!!!

I like that idea of putting the tree up then! We haven't started any thanksgiving traditions of our own yet, but this year we are hosting thanksgiving for both my husband and my families!!! I am really excited!!

  4. The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Playing with my cousin's ALL day.

    Dressing up and being FULL.

    The "kids" table.

  5. My Dad and I watch "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" every year on Thanksgiving night. After everyone has left. It's a nice tradition and it kicks off the Christmas season for us. This has been going on since I was 11 or 12. We've had to upgrade our tape to a DVD.

And it's a tradition that I eat tons of mashed potatos every year. I think they taste better on Thanksgiving.
