Why?

Why do some people say they want to lose or have lost "LB's" instead of just saying the word pounds? It is one thing to use "lb" when writing, but not when talking.

I have heard this before and a guy at T.'s office party last weekend said it. It annoyed me....just say pounds - not "LB's"!!!

Is it a guy thing? I don't know why it bothers me so...it just does.

(Sorry if you say that, it is just one of those things I don't get.)

  1. I hate that too. It is like they are just trying too hard to be clever.

  2. Ew. I don't like it. I don't know if I've ever heard anyone say it, but if I do ...

  4. Oh, I just heard that the other day, and decided to adopt it into use...

    But forget it now.

  5. It makes me picture some meat-head in the gym, hiking up their shorts, flexing their muscles, and then saying "Yep, I'm up to lifting 300 L-B's"
