So I am sorry I have been away, I had a very busy weekend! I went to my hometown Thursday for a weekend full of Bridal fun!!
Friday I had a series of appointments beginning at 8:30 a.m. One of which included selecting the music that the organist will play at the ceremony! T. really wanted Ode to Joy as the recessional and I wanted Ave Maria played right before the bridemaids came down and Canon in D for the bridemaids. Then it was time to select “my” song. I am getting married in a Catholic church and the organist will not play the Bridal Chorus as it is too contemporary. That is ok, so I decided I wanted to hear Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring b/c T. said I would probably like it (I had heard it before but didn’t know what it was called) click here to listen!!! And I have to say that I loved it, loved it so much I started crying (#1). I was just so happy and to think of me walking down the aisle hearing that song was just wonderful and emotional!
So then my mom and sister and I went back to the house to kill some time and we started talking about the shower and I started crying (#2). It comes down to the fact that my mom and sister put SO much time into the planning of the shower and to the whole wedding day for T. & I that it is so over whelming and we are so appreciative of it!!! I am so lucky to have T. and to have family that loves him so much too.
So then we go to Davids Bridal for the dress fitting. Didn’t cry there because I had to stand in my hot dress for over 30 minutes while I got 11, yes you heard me, 11 bussels pinned onto my dress. ELEVEN!!!!! What the heck! Good luck sis on getting those done the wedding day!
Then some more errands and some more preparing for the shower and some more happy tears throughout the rest of the day.
Then Saturday came and it was wonderful!!! I never really wanted a shower but I am glad we had one. It was nice to see the bridesmaids having SO much fun! And all my family and friends having a nice time and coming together to share in this special time. And the shower was great!! Fun games, great food, beautiful and thoughtful gifts (including the 100 individual packs of lubricating jelly from my Aunt), embarrassing moments and some great laughs. Then I guess I had to say something at the end…. thanking everyone for coming and how much they mean to me and T. and how thankful we are and queue the water works AGAIN! (By this time it is #5)
So, here it is – I am a crier. And I am realizing I am TOTALLY ok with it. I am SO happy and lucky and over whelmed by all the love and support I have right now. So as far as I am concerned I will cry till I can’t cry no more!!! (hopefully I will be out of tear fluids by the wedding day, LOL)

WTF did I just see??
OK, I am sorry – but I have this image haunting my head and so the least I can do is share it with all of you!
As I am walking back from lunch into my office building (I work at a College of sorts) something interesting catches my eye. The girl in front of me is walking with her short shorts unbuttoned (like she just forgot to button her pants) and sliding down the side of her thigh revealing her Haines Her Way striped underwear which were ripped at the top. Now, why you ask do I have such detail – well when you see something like this you have to stare at it b/c you just don’t think it could be real!!
She seemed to not care at all that over ¼ of her underwear/ass was showing and that her shorts were falling off her ass. Now, I believe that she would have noticed this because one – usually people notice when their clothes are falling off and two – as we approached the building we were greeted by doors that allowed an individual to see their reflection, thus revealing the state of their wardrobe to themselves.
I swear this is 100% true and 110% gross!
Ok, Maybe she REALLY didn’t know and was that unaware of her current disheveled situation and maybe I should have said something. But what would I say “Excuse…I see London I see France I see someone’s underpants”?!?!?! I was just too much in a state of WTF-ness to even think of something to say!! Besides - her “friend” was with her and therefore by default I am no longer responsible for informing said girl of any problems with her attire.
Oh How I love the perks of my job!

My BFF
Today as we shared a better than anticipated lunch with our co-workers to celebrate Kylee’s exit from our employer, the topic of conversation turned to the DVR. The DVR or Digital Video Recorder is a wonderful invention that I do not believe I could live without. Ok, semi-dramatic, I am sure I could live without it – but I choose not too. I LOVE my DVR.
Definition as stated in Wikipedia Encyclopedia
A digital video recorder (DVR) (or personal video recorder (PVR)) is a device that records video without videotape to a hard drive-based digital storage medium. The term includes stand-alone set-top boxes and software for personal computers which enables video capture and playback to and from disk.
Here are my top ten reasons why I love my DVR. I know there are many, many more but I had to simplify!
10. You never have to miss your favorite shows
9. Don’t have to worry about video tapes, timers and/or programming your VCR
8. You can record shows when you are not home or not awake - ALL day long
7. You have an option to series record. This being, you can program to automatically record your favorite shows and it will record that series until you tell it to stop!
6. DVR will store all your favorite shows in her memory
5. You can watch your shows when you want to watch them
4. It allows you to pause/control live TV
3. You can set reminders for your favorite TV shows so you will not miss them
2. Watch one show while recording another
1. THE BEST REASON: You will never have to sit through commercials again!!!!!
Now I am aware that DVR may not be for everyone and that’s cool. I am not pressuring anyone to get the DVR (or cousin TIVO). But it works for my life and I absolutely love everything about it – well except when it breaks down and looses all your shows (but it has only happened once in two years).
What do you think?
What are your feelings on DVR/TIVO if you have one or if you don’t have one?
Wedding Countdown
Ok, for those other than me counting down, these posts will begin appearing randomly on my blog for the next couple months in preperation of our upcoming wedding!!! I apologize as I am sure this may get old, but I will be only getting married once - b/c I sure as hell do not want to EVER plan another one of these!! Seriously (on a side note) I am an event planner for a living and I DO NOT like the process of planning our wedding. Maybe that is the problem, I look at it more like work then my life, ha, oh well!!!
I do think that you should enjoy the process but don't be consumed by the process of planning a wedding. It isn't about the day but the commitment you are choosing to make to the person you love. If your relationship is centered around that day, your dress, the gifts - what will you have after the wedding??? Don't get me wrong, I am VERY excited to have our wedding day b/c to have all the people we love the most there with us as we begin our life together is appreciated beyond words. I just want to make sure I keep my eyes open and as things get crazy over the next few months I/we will try VERY hard not to get consumed by the little things and instead focus on the relationship/future we are planning together! Maybe easier said then done at times, but we'll give it a go :-)
So the numbers as of today look like this:
3 days till the Bridal Shower
31 days till the bachlorette Party
52 days till the wedding
Sentimental for a reason
So, today i felt it was necessary to bring out an older myspace post (slightly updated) to talk about my feelings on change. This is appropriate today as one of our friends makes a change in her life. I know she will be wonderful with this new and exciting opportunity and I don't really want to wish her "luck", because she doesn't need that as she is a fabulous, smart, creative and hard working person already. But what I do want to wish her is all the happiness, love, encouragement and support that we are all able to provide. I know I can speak for alot of us in saying, we will ALWAYS be here for you WHENEVER you need us. To laugh, cry, talk, anything! You are an amazing and beautiful person and I hope you enjoy EVERY moment of what is to come!!!
...................................................
Today I have to give mad props to anyone who is making a change in their life. Whether it is a new job far away, moving to a new place in search of something new/different, having the courage and/or motivation to change something in their lives that they thought they could never do, changing things slowly to get to that ultimate goal, or trying to help change someone/something around them for the better.....kudos to all of you!!!
Recently it seems that a lot of people in my life are making the attempts to change in some capacity. Whether it is through marriages/getting engaged, a new friendship or relationship, purchasing a home, new jobs, new experiences, having a baby, growing up and moving on, or any personal changes within their life.....change seems to be everywhere and in some ways inevitable!
Now with all this change over the past few months I have seen some who have already failed, some who are on the path to fail, some who work hard everyday to achieve that change and are happy doing it, some who had to post-pone change, some who have succeeded, some who are on the road to success, some who don't know what to think about the changes they have made in their lives, or even some who may not know they are changing.
However, with all these changes that have been made in their lives or about to be made, one thing remains - they attempted to do something new. Something they may have never thought they were able to accomplish. Something that - even for a moment (however long that moment may be) made them happy, scared, excited and nervous all in one! That, my friends, is the true meaning of living. Taking a chance to make a difference in your life or the life of others. We get use to the same old same old and we have a fear of taking that chance to make a change in our lives. But if we are not willing to take chances how will we know what we are able to accomplish, how far we can go, the possibilities that are out there for us?
I for one admire anyone who is willing to take that chance in life. Now, some of these individuals may have had an outcome they didn't expect as life is certainly not predictable. There may be some that may have not thought things through all the way or maybe they thought this change would be something different than what it really was or maybe they just were not ready/prepared to make the change at that particular point in their lives. But one thing I believe is true is that IF you learned from the experience/s taken in life you will have become a better person for it and you should not a hold a single regret with the attempts you have made.
I am in the process of making changes in my life, for the better I believe, and with those changes have come some additional responsibilities. Even though these changes I am making are taking a little longer to achieve then I may have originally wanted, I feel better about myself for getting the courage to take a chance. My friends who have taken a chance in their lives have motivated & educated me and I hope that in some small way we can motivate each other to have the courage, patience, strength, smarts to take advantage of changes that may be presented to each of us.
Remember you dont have to jump into anything all at once. Walking, skipping, crawling will all get you to the same place (it mat just take a little longer). Doesn't matter how you get to that change in your life just as long as you live your life and keep your eyes and mind open to the possibilities of change and chance!
Change:
To cause to be different
To give a completely different form or appearance to
To exchange for or replace with another
To lay aside, abandon, or leave for another
To become different or undergo alteration
To go from one phase to another
A transformation or transition from one state, condition, or phase to another
Chance:
The unknown and unpredictable element in happenings that seems to have no assignable cause
A force assumed to cause events that cannot be foreseen or controlled
A favorable set of circumstances; an opportunity
A risk or hazard; a gamble
