One of the things Terry got me for Christmas was a 1 pound
package(two half pound) of Reese’s peanut butter cups. These things are HUGE, half
pound huge at that. A few years ago he
got me ½ lb Sugar Daddy candy bar that is still sitting in the kitchen.
(Seriously, the thought of eating that makes my teeth hurt.)
Now, there is a part of me that would really like to dig in
to those peanut butter cups but I wonder (1) how will they taste being that the
ratio of peanut butter to chocolate in a standard cup is near perfection and
have they recreated that ratio in these cups? and (2) how do you even begin to
eat one? Do I cut it like a pie? Just take a bite out of it? I seriously don’t know which way seems less ridiculous and which is the least glutton-ess way of eating these.
In general, I don’t know how I feel about this whole giant
candy craze that seems to be going on, and yes I realize that the person saying
this is currently in possession of two ½ lb peanut butter cups.
At Christmas giant marshmallows, giant gummy bears, and
other giant sugary products were really popular gifts (hence me receiving my
peanut butter cups). But what do you do
with a giant 5 lb gummy bear? (Buy it
here from Amazon for a mere $26.95 is what you do) Would I take that into work
and sit it on my desk and whenever I am in the mood for some Cherry flavored, red dye, high fructose corn
syrup deliciousness just lean over and take a bite out of my bear, whose name would
be Sam by the way. It just doesn’t seem
right.
Or how about serving up a 2lb gourmet marshmallow at your
next dinner party. (Buy one here for $28.)
Nothing says you love your friends and family more than putting them in
a sugar coma after eating a slice of gourmet marshmallow.
These giant treats just don’t seem right, and are the epitome
of the type of overindulgent society we currently live in. Or maybe it is just
a representation of our desire to always be a kid at heart. Or maybe it is just people who figured they
can make a quick buck off gimmicky items such as these. Or maybe, just maybe, Willy Wonka is real and
he is letting us know.
Now pass me a knife and a large glass of milk, I have a
1/2lb peanut butter cup to eat!
And here is a question, what are your thoughts on painting your toes one color and your finger nails another color? If you paint one should you leave the other plain? Paint them both the same or is that too matchy?

I was so excited I can’t even try to build the suspense and tease you….I just have to blurt it out!!
Our last digital camera took a shit right after vacation. (Thank goodness it made it through that.) We have had the camera since 2003, so it has been a good camera. But it started acting up recently and then just died this past weekend. Died meaning the shutter won’t close and it only turns on to tell us to turn it off.
Terry and I talked about it, and considering we have some rather important events happening in the coming months we decided we needed to suck it up and buy a new and reliable camera. We weighed our options and tried to figure out what was the best for us.
Option 1: We could just get an inexpensive camera for about $150….but how long would it last and what would the quality of pictures be like? We don’t just want something to get us by and we don’t want to turn around in a few years and get another one? However, it is the least expensive option so an option nonetheless.
Option 2: Some of the nicer and slightly more advanced cameras seem to be around $189-$220. We found one we really liked and it was a possibility. It would last awhile and take good pictures.
Option 3: At the top of the range was the Nikon Coolpix L120 for $279. This was higher priced than we wanted to go as we wanted to stay below $250 for a digital camera. However, this camera was amazing. I went straight for it and told Terry to not pick it up as he would not want to put it down. I love Nikon, plus this camera had great reviews. It takes AMAZING pictures and videos and should last a long time. BUT, it is above our initial price range.
So which camera did we get? the affordable but basic camera, the mid range camera that would be a solid and financially reasonable camera, or the camera slightly above our budget but with all the bells and whistles we wanted. (it is like House Hunters, no?! Yeah, I watch that show too much.)
We choose…..the third one! The Nikon camera!!
I. LOVE. THIS. CAMERA.
Yes, it was slightly above our price range, however the difference in what we got compared to the mere $50 - $75 in price between the other cameras we were looking at made this pretty much a no brainer. To us, we can justify spending a little more on something that is going to yield great results and be a fantastic camera. Had it been even $100, $150, $200 more, I am not so sure we would have gotten it, but at this price and for what we got we were SOLD.
As for the camera, it is wonderful. We have only played around with it for a few days, but the quality of the pictures it takes is ridiculous! So crisp and vivid. It is easy to take a video and the video quality is better than our old video camera! It is also very user friendly…which I like a lot.
I don’t know what all the fancy features mean….but here is the camera if you are curious.
I would totally recommend this camera for people who want a good digital camera, especially for people like us who may not be able to afford or may just not want to spend the money right now on the more advanced and expensive digital cameras. This is 100 times better than your standard digital camera, but very reasonably priced for the product you are getting.
The only potential drawback some may see is that this camera does take standard double A batteries. You can put in rechargeable batteries, which terry and I may eventually do after Henry is born, but it does not come with the camera. However, for as often as we use our camera this is not an issue for us at the moment. Plus, I actually like that we have the option that we CAN use double batteries. For our old camera we had one set of rechargeable batteries, so we had to remember to charge the batteries before we went somewhere or if they died in the middle of something had to wait till we could recharge them. Now we can use whatever is available to us!
Oh and we also got a new memory card, our old one was SO small we could only store about 100 pictures at 3 megapixels on it at any given time. This new one we can hold about 4700 pictures at 8 megapixel (is it megapixel…is that right? I don't know what I am saying as I am so not technologically savvy). AWESOME!!!
Yep, we now are ready (ok at least picture wise) for the next three months!!
So the lovely twopretzels innocently enough sent me a few websites yesterday that have great deals on kids and womens clothes. I browsed a couple sites then got to Zulily and the browsing stopped and the buying began! Oh my goodness, I LOVE this website.....and fear I will love it more once we know the gender.
We have bought a couple cute outfits that have been onsale but we will most likely get stuff at thrift stores and garage sales over the summer, plus we also wanted to wait till I was farther along before we really bought more. Well that stopped when I saw these lovely things for only $3.49 each!! (Regular $14.99....even Amazon doesn't have them cheaper than $9.99) I have seen how expensive onesie's can be....you can not beat this deal!!

Then today, just hours after buying this stuff I go back and take a look and see what sales they have today and see these aprons that I am in LOVE with!
Aren't they adorable?! They are only $14.49! Since it is not about me right now and I will not even be able to wear one of these in a few months without looking like a giant balloon I am practicing control and not getting one, but come on....how awesome are they? Plus, shouldn't a mom have an apron?! (No Jenn, NO.)

So I went to the doctor this week as I have had a cold since last week and I wanted to check things out. The doctor told me it was just a cold and there wasn’t any medicine I could take (Tylenol Cold has been recalled) but instead told me to try a saline nasal spray.
Basically, the spray will help flush out my sinus cavities and keep them moistened (ew) which will help prevent a sinus infection which can happen when the sinus cavities become clogged from things such as a cold. She said it was over the counter and perfectly safe as it was just pure saline and may help relieve the congestion I had. So I gave it a try!

Let me tell you, I have a Love/Hate relationship with this product. You basically stick the end up your nose and tilt your head to the side and then spray a stream of saline up your nose. (Don't be fold by the word MIST on the bottle, it doesn't feel like a mist when it is up your nose!) When I start getting congested I just stick that sucker up there and give it a few good sprays. Why do I hate it? Well because it feels SO weird. It is cold and it makes my eyes water and my nose instantly runs. I mean who likes the feelings of water in their nose?! Not me that’s fo sho…I HATE IT. Seconds before I do this I may whine a little bit to myself because I know what is coming and I just don’t want to do it! Yes, I act like a child at times.
However, it is SO worth it. This really makes me feel better, even if it is just for a couple hours. I am sure it is similar to a neti pot, though I still don’t have the courage to try that and I am sure the Neti Pot would actually be more effective than this product. But for me, this works and works well. After I use it all this mucus comes out of my nose (again, ew) and it feels SO GOOD. I can breathe again and everything up in there feels cleaned out!
Even though I hate it for the minute or two that I am using this product I do love the outcome. Who knew cleaning out your sinus cavities could feel so wonderful! I think I may continue to use this during allergy season to help avoid congestion and sinus issues.
I recommend this to people who do not feel comfortable using the neti pot but who also have allergy and sinus issues....your sinuses will thank me!
So has anyone out there tried the Pedi Paws pet clipper product? We are wondering if it is any good and also how loud it is, seriously the cats in their commercials look freaked out!
Our little cat has this habit of stretching against walls. She will put her paws up on the wall as high as she can and stretch out as long as she can. She doesn’t scrape the walls but sometimes she is dumb and will stretch out against the curtain or the screen door or the couch and then she will get herself stuck. Terry was home at lunch today and heard her meowing and she was all stretched on the screen with her back paws barely touching the floor….she will never learn.
We usually don’t trim their claws as they are fairly good about scratching where they should, but this constant getting stuck in the curtain and screen is annoying. So we thought maybe this Pedi Paw thing would work. I have my doubts as it seems loud and too bulky, Terry is optimistic it will work, most likely just because he wants to buy one.
So any reviews on the product or even your thoughts would be wonderful!
So T & I went to the store Saturday night, yeah that is how we spend our Saturday evenings at 9:30pm, grocery shopping at Meijer….pretty wild, huh?!
Well we were just killing time and perusing items, as we didn’t feel we had enough junk in our cart yet, and that is when we found these wonderful things! Mini handheld boxes of wine. Brilliant!
These little boxes of wine hold 3 servings, er…really 1 serving as it is probably just 2 glasses of wine. They can fit easily in your refrigerator, cooler, purse, or beverage holder in your car. They also have an easy to swill from, closable top if you just don’t feel like dirtying a glass. They are also great if you want to go to a party, but just don’t feel like sharing with others. (Sorry, get your own handheld box of wine.) Actually it would be the perfect amount of wine if you just want a couple glasses at night (or hey, chug straight from the box), but don’t want to open an entire bottle of wine because then you will drink the entire bottle of wine. Don’t tell me you don’t do that either.
So if you are looking for a convenient, easy to hold(see how easily it fits in Terry's hand), box of wine to take with you on the go, then I believe this product is for you!
Over the last 6 months or so Terry and I have started incorporating more organic foods into our life. Not everything we eat we buy organic or think should be organic, but there are things like lettuce, mushrooms, some fruits and some other veggies that we prefer the quality of the organic over regular. We are also looking at buying some organic beef from a farmer this spring.
Anyways, this weekend Terry picked up a few of these Horizon Organic Milk boxes to try. Terry does not drink milk at all, where as my sister and I could easily go through a gallon in just two days between the two of us. I tried the regular, chocolate and the strawberry milk and I have to say that these are fantastic!!
I don't think I will switch to organic. One for the price and second I drink ALOT of skim milk which isn't really milk anyways but Terry said he wants to drink this over regular milk. I also think if I am in the mood for chocolate or strawberry I will drink these instead. (The strawberry is my favorite!!) Now that I have tried the milk, I might have to try some of the other products Horizon Organic sells. Products here
I like the fact that this milk contains: No antibiotics No added growth hormones No dangerous pesticides No genetically modified organisms No artificial flavors, synthetic colors or preservatives No hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils

T & I saw this at the store the other day. Hasbro has a new product called Tooth Tunes! Basically they are toothbrushes that play a 2 minute song (the minimum time you should brush your teeth) but they supposedly play the music through your teeth! It says on the website that you touch the toothbrush to your teeth and the bristles send music through your teeth into your head! AWESOME!
The product is $10 and plays songs from bands like Black Eyed Peas, Beach Boys, the song from Napoleon Dynamite, KISS, Queen...and my personal fav. YMCA by the Village People! HAHA Who wouldn't want to brush their teeth for at least 4 minutes each day while listening to the YMCA playing in your head?!?! (that wouldn't drive you crazy at all)
Anyways, I may just go and buy one to try it out. It just sounds interesting! I may go with the Napoleon Dynamite one - FUN! I actually think this is a very fun idea for kids! I will let you know how it works!!
Other tooth tune suggestions: Book in a toothbrush, News in a toothbrush, encouragement in a toothbrush, or Recipes in a toothbrush. 2 minute clips of these would be awesome!!! ;-)
