Talk To Me – The World Of Skinny Jeans and Jeggings

I know, I Know. I want to talk about Jeggings….what happened to our Jennifer?!

No, this is not like me to talk about anything fashion related.  I am the person who doesn’t wear anything too trendy, hates changes in fashion, and likes my regular jeans and sweatshirts and that is about it.

However, I am curious.....What are your thoughts on jeggings and skinny jeans?!  Do you like them, do you think they are ridiculous, do you own a pair, what do you wear them with, are they for everyone?

(That is totally my ass on the left)

Why do I ask, well because I have to admit….I am looking at buying a pair of tighter jeans.  *Insert GASP*

Now, I am by no means a small girl, so I am not sure jeggings are good for me because of just how tight they are  but I have these AWESOME boots (below) that I want to wear over jeans but I can’t because all my jeans have wider bottoms/legs and therefore they look stupid stuffed into boots.  I was never interested in skinny jeans or jeggings before, infact I thought they were stupid…mainly because I am too big to wear them. Also just the name is silly, jeggings…really?!  Come on.  They just sound stupid.

HOWEVER.  Now that I have these boots that I cannot show off properly with my current wardrobe, I have started searching the world of skinny jeans.  Yes, I will eat all that shit I talked about skinny jeans/jeggings later.

But before I go down what could be another one of my many fashion mistakes, I thought I would get the opinion of others.  Others who are a bit more fashion forward and haven’t been living in their yoga pants and tank tops since January.  People who would give HONEST advice about this fashion trend.  Or maybe who have suggestions on how I can show off my new boots in a way that is better suited for me.

So please share your thoughts on skinny jeans/jeggings.  Do you like either?  Have a preference on one over the other? What tops do you wear with them so you can even out your proportions….aka so some of us hippy people don’t look like giant upside down pears?!!

Please share your thoughts.

And until them, I will just continue wearing them around in my house with my maternity leggings. HOTT STUFF coming through!!
My boots....LOVE.

What exactly are jeggings you ask? See HERE

Um, I Really Don’t Know What to Say About These

(Two posts today – making up for the lack of a post yesterday.  Is that how this works?!)

So Ugg Australia & Jimmy Choo have collaborated to form a new collection and it is proof that when two sexy and/or cute things come together and have an offspring it doesn't always mean that the offspring is destined to be cute.  Infact, in may be the exact opposite.

Please welcome, and try not to turn away in horror, Ugg & Chimmy Choo’s newest additions.

What the…..?!

Seriously, I am speechless (which is unusual for me) and cannot even begin to form thoughts to form words to express what I think of these.  All I can say is REALLY?!?!

So please, feel free to share your thoughts on these, because friends I am flabbergasted at the pure hideousness of these and that these two companies would think these are cute.

Oh, Heidi Klum.......I Am So Happy You Are Wearing Mondo's Dress!!

Ok, I loved Mondo on this past season of Project Runway and I totally think he should have won instead of Gretchen. Boooo, Hiss

Anywho, Heidi loved Mondo's dress that Nina and Michael Kors did not really like. Boooo, Hiss  Heidi liked it so much she wore it to the movie premiere of "Black Swan."  Granted, she did do away with the sleeves, but I don't mind as I think it is still really cute!

I am glad Heidi is giving Mondo the love.  He is such a great designer!

I Really Don’t Get It.

So I am not what one would call “fashion forward” and may not be the best judge of what is hip. Do we still say hip? I don’t really follow what is trendy in fashion/pop culture because I know most women only look good in 5% of what celebrities are actually wearing. I prefer comfort over style and hate shopping and spending a lot of money on clothes unless I can wear that piece of clothing all the time and with pretty much everything else I own. I tend to stay in the neutral color tones and am content wearing many different shades of grey, black, green & blue. I adore fashion shows, but when I watch things like Project Runway I only agree with the judges 30% of the time. And as we speak I am sitting in yoga pants, green & blue argyle knee socks, pink slippers, a red sweatshirt, and I have a multi-color piece of random fabric in my hair in place of a headband because I love it.

See, I love my fabric headband….

My point is, I get it….I am not the best judge of fashion. But I do know when something doesn’t make sense and should be removed from the stores promptly and that is why I have to say I just do not for the life of me get Gladiator Sandals and/or Gladiator Boots.

Now I know these came out a couple years ago, but I had really hoped it was just a phase and a bad judgment call by some designers and they would be gone by now and after one season we would never see them again. But they are still around and becoming ridiculous!

OK, maybe a simple and semi-understated gladiator sandal like this…
......would look good on some people (especially when worn with jeans). But I just don't get them in general, I mean isn't the idea to elongate your legs and not cut them off at the ankles? These shoes definitely cut off your legs when you wear them with anything other than jeans.  If you do not have large calves, are the right height, the right age, and have great legs these would look "good" on you. But then they (the crazy designers of the fashion world)  went from a simple shoe to a shoe that now has a life of its own.

SEE!

Now they are like part boot, part leg warmer, part sandal, part S&M shoe, part where is the rest of your shoe, and part WTF is going on with your legs?!?!?! IT IS TOO MUCH   There is a difference between cute strappy sandal (which I like) and an unfinished one that cuts your legs in weird places. Seriously, where is the rest of my shoe?! If I am wearing a shoe that in theory is suppose to come up anywhere from your ankle to mid calf I want the whole shoe that I am paying for….not just pieces of it. It looks like the shell of what could be a cool shoe but was never finished because the cobbler left for Mojitos and passed out the night before the shoes were to be displayed at Fashion Week. And now we are left with pieces of shoes that look very uncomfortable, have no arch support (which is important in my older age), and makes your calves look like sausages.

And the worst part is that even though the celebrities may be starting to move on to other styles (though someone needs to take all of the Olsen twins gladiator shoes away from them STAT) now the general public is starting to wear these shoes more often and I have to tell you…..it ain’t pretty.  Maybe because I live in a college town and I am exposed to girls who study the “show” Jersey Shore instead of studying where Jersey is on a map, I feel like this particular bad fashion is everywhere I look. And unfortunately mama isn’t there to tell Brittni she doesn't look like a greek goddess but rather the court jester; and instead she has a bunch of drunk girlfriends who are going to let her go out in public wearing those dreadful shoes and flattering her on how great they look because they saw Audrina where them on The Hills and she looked awesome.

Sigh

So my point of this post?  If you can pull the more simple ones off in a fashionable way, please do.  I guess I just do not like seeing 20 year olds squeeze their legs into these while they wear cotton shorts with BGSU on the butt, a too tight tank, and a scarf.  There are other people to get your fashion image from other than girls from The Hills.

Project Runway – Please Don’t Disappoint Me Again

So I saw that Project Runway is set to return with a new season starting on January 14. Now my Owens friends got me into this show and I have been hooked ever since. I was truly sad when it moved to Lifetime and was off the air for so long. When the new season started I was excited for its return but I am going to be honest I was not that impressed with last season.

I didn’t think the designers were all that great. A few designed some really great items, but overall there was not one single designer that I thought stood out and did a truly amazing job. The entire season just seemed a bit dull. I also was annoyed because it seemed as though I typically disagreed with everything the judges were saying. I would think something was ridiculous and they would love it or I would love something and they hated it. My sister and I watched the season in the hopes it would get better but I think it just got worse.

I am still going to watch the new season this Thursday and I am excited about it, I just hope this season is better than last season!

Will you be watching the new season of Project Runway?

Meet the designers HERE.

PROJECT RUNWAY - TONIGHT!!!

Make sure your DVR's are set...or even better just don't plan to do anything at all tonight except sit in front of your TV and watch Project Runway! The new season of Project Runway starts tonight at 10pm on Lifetime. But that is not it, at 8pm tonight there is a 2 hour All-Star Project Runway Special. Awesome.

What a great week for TV. 3 hours of Project Runway tonight. Last night was 2 1/2 hours of Top Chef and the new Season kicked off. And the new season of Ghost Hunters was last night.

(I think I love TV too much)

It is a GREAT thing!

I have to say that I am very impressed with the store Steve & Barry’s (click here).

At first the store mainly had sweatshirts and athletic apparel for under $20….with a lot of it under $10! I think that is great, especially for parents who have to buy clothes for their kids and for all of us out there who can not afford to constantly spend excessive amounts on clothes!

But here is what I like better. Recently the store has introduced some new “brands” into their store, making cool and fashionable clothes/shoes affordable AND popular! First to enter S&B was the Steph Starbury (basketball player) line of clothes and shoes. Now kids could get shoes for under $15 that were created & promoted by an NBA player!!! Ben Wallace has recently joined S&B as well! And for the girls….the adorable Sarah Jessica Parker has created a clothing line called Bitten where everything from jewelry, shoes and clothes is under $20!!! Awesome!!!!

We all know that some kids may not like to shop at discount stores like Walmart (I have NO problem with discount stores) b/c they are not as recognized name brands or not as “cool”. However, when celebrities like this get involved and have this passion to create clothing lines that have a recognizable name attached, are in style, of good quality and are very inexpensive I think it is a win win situation for everyone! On Starbury’s website he even says that a kids self-esteem should not be tied to the clothes that they wear or the price of their shoes! This is true more now then ever!!!

There is NO need to spend an excessive amount on dressing yourself or your kids…and it is so good to see more and more people embracing this movement of creating head to toe clothing that ANYONE can afford!

Way to go!

I Love....

I am totally ordering these jellies today from Forever 21! YAY!!! They also have clear (Click here) but I think I am going with the red…..I don’t know – I want BOTH!!! These look WAY cute and I am super excited to get some jellies on my feet again!

P.S. Can I just say how happy I am that flat shoes are in. I think I may have said something about this already, but as someone who is 5’11” and is extremely clumsy I am SO very happy that flats are popular!!!
