I Love....

TOP GEAR!!!

Ok, I know this may not be for everyone, but one of my new(er) favorite shows is Top Gear which is on BBC America! This show is awesome!

I am not really a car person. I think cars are cool to look at and can be interesting at times but that is about it. And that is the great thing about this show, it is great for anyone! The show talks about cars but also has these little "skit/adventure" type things (like in the video above) and also has celebrities come on!

The video above is almost 10 minutes, but is hilarious! T&I laughed so hard the first time we saw it! I totally recommend this show, new episodes are on Monday evening!

WE GOT THEM!

Thanks to my Cool Dad (that is his actual name in our inner circle), T&I got some early pre-sale tickets to go see Iron Maiden at Blossom in Cleveland! HELL YEAH!

My dad tried to get in the Pit but those sold out really fast....but apparently you can buy two Pit tickets on ebay for $350! WHAT?!?!?! I do think it is ridiculous that there are people out there who don't even want to go but just want to make money and will buy up the pit tickets early.

I am glad we got them today, even though they are not up in the Pit they are still good seats and well at least we got tickets! I don't know how long they will last tomorrow morning for the general sale. So be ready at 10 am if you are getting tickets!

M. I did not post another scary Iron Maiden cover picture just for you!!!

Down with the Sickness

Sorry for the lack of blogging but I have been sick. A couple weeks ago I had the sore/itchy throat but it started to go away so I thought I was in the clear. Then Easter Sunday the little bitch came back and infected me. Now I am getting over some sorta sickness.

I stayed home from work yesterday and slept. ALL DAY. From 9p.m. on Tuesday until 7a.m. Thursday, I slept 28 out of the 34 hours and lounged around on the couch in a daze those other 6. Though I am at a point in my flu where it is tolerable, I am still ready for the weekend so I can continue to rest up.

However, while I was at home yesterday I had some random thoughts:

- I don’t like going to Doctors….I just want to deal with my sickness myself.

- Nyquil isn’t as fun to take when you are actually sick.

- I love the dreams I have on Nyquil…they are crazy!

- As much as I hate it, Vick’s cream really does work. I slathered that stuff on me at night and I could actually breathe!

- There does reach a point when even the comfiest of beds is no longer a place you would like to be. My limit – 18 straight hours. (I slept for 17 hours and then watched TV for another hour.) Of course after I finally got out of bed, cleaned up, got some soup, and watched TV I was ready to go back to bed for what would be another 11 hours of sleep.

- Does BRAVO show anything other than reality TV? I am not try to smack talk BRAVO, I love that channel. But I am not sure if they show anything other than reality TV shows.

- I love Top Chef! YAY for the mini-marathon!

- I always feel guilty when I take a sick day and I am ACTUALLY sick. I have taken “mental health” days in the past at other jobs and don’t feel bad at all, but when I am actually sick I feel like I am doing something wrong ~ weird!

- I’ll admit that I am a bit of a baby when I am sick. I just want to stay in bed and be taken care of….I think everyone is to some degree.

- There is a fine line between a somewhat sexy voice when you are sick and the disgusting sick voice. The sexy voice is nice, slightly deeper and you want to hear yourself talk and/or sing with this new voice (think Phoebe from Friends). The disgusting sick voice is when you can’t even stand to hear yourself talk b/c you sound like you have some alien living inside you. You breathe heavily through your mouth, you have snot dripping out of you that you try to suck back in, you hack and/or sneeze every time you try to talk, your nose is all raw and dry, and people don’t want to come near you b/c you sound like hell. I am the latter.

- Bugs are back. Now that it is warmer bugs are starting to come back into our house…but no fear, our little Belle will take care of them. Yesterday she found a centipede on the wall (ick) and a big black spider on the floor. She played with the spider for awhile before I killed it. She is a good little bug hunter.

- Wednesday are a great day of the week to have off. I think we should petition for a 4 day work week with Wed. off.
- I missed blogging.

What we do in Our Spare Time

I know this post is corny, deal with it.

So last night Terry & I managed to get three eggs to stand eggs-actly straight up on our counter without the use of any tricks. It was an egg-trordinary feet thanks to the Equinox. The time where the sun is directly over the Earth’s equator and only 1 of 2 times you can get an egg to do this egg-ceptionally cool trick!

I have never seen this done before and always thought T. was eggs-aggerating the details, but once we got the first one to stand up I was really egg-cited and we just had to keep trying to more!

T & I had an egg-cellent night! :)

What is the Equinox: An equinox in astronomy is that moment in time (not a whole day) when the centre of the Sun can be observed to be directly above the Earth's equator, occurring around March 20 and September 23 each year.

More technically, at an equinox, the Sun is at one of two opposite points on the celestial sphere where the celestial equator (i.e. declination 0) and ecliptic intersect. These points of intersection are called equinoctial points—the vernal point and the autumnal point. By extension, the term equinox may be used to denote an equinoctial point.

Think, Think, Think......

So another blog post has been lost to the black hole of my memory.

I tend to do my "best" thinking in the car on my way to and from work as well as in the shower. I like to call them my thinking spots. I will think of topics I want to post about on my blog, but don't write them down as I am not in the position to do so. Of course I say everytime...I will remember it this time, this one is good I won't be able to forget it....and then it vanishes - never to be thought of again.

Many a decent blog ideas has been lost to this black hole. It is frustrating b/c like today I had one ready to go. In my head I thought of the catchy title, the story, and even managed to throw in a couple cute quips. Now, I sit in front of my computer at work ready to blog (like many days) and I am sitting here with nothing.

This isn't called getting old is it?!?!

I hope one day that these topics will come back to me and I will be able to write them down, but until then I guess this will have to do.

Um, That’s Not Really Small Talk…That’s Personal.

So I was reading Trophy Life’s life blog today and two of her posts reminded me about something that happened this weekend. Click here for her related posts.

The posts have to do with people (complete strangers) who just kind of say things that may be a little too much information. You know you have normal small talk and then there is not-so normal small talk!

So we were at Books-A-Million and were standing over in the coin section. OH, you are not familiar with where that is?! Well we are pretty familiar with it, it is over right next to the cash register! hehe :D

ANYWAYS, Terry is looking at his coin books and I am just people watching (a favorite thing of mine to do). This lady goes to the cashier and the following conversation proceeds:

Cashier: “Good Afternoon, How are you today?”
Lady: “Good, thank you. How about yourself?”
Cashier: “I’m ok. Well I actually have an ulcer I am fighting.”
Lady: (in a surprised but very kind way) “OH. Well that is terrible.”
Cashier: “Yeah, I am in pain. I can't really eat much and there are certain foods I can’t eat at the moment b/c they trigger the pain.” (proceeds to go through a list of foods. This lasts a good minute.) “So anyways, I am uncomfortable at the moment. Ready to go home.”
Lady: (as she takes her bag) “Well I hope you feel better.”
Cashier: “Yeah, I will try.”

I was cracking up in the corner of the bookstore. Even my husband managed to pull his nose out of the latest issue of Coin World to look over and listen to the awkward conversation. I mean it really makes you think….. why do these people think complete strangers are interested in someone’s personal business or why do they say the things they say (like in TL’s blog) to complete strangers?!?!

Yes, I know. I am weeks from turning 28 and I have never had one of these before…..what was I doing with my life?!?!

I have to say, it was heavenly! It was SO relaxing to just take an hour to get pampered like this. Our hands felt and looked so pretty when it was all done! I loved the wax treatment, but my favorite had to be the hand massage….they could have just done that for the whole hour! :)

I see more of these in the near future!

Well they better be good.

So I just read that Producers are expected to announce soon that the final Harry Potter book will be divided into two movies. One to come out in Novemebr of 2010 and one in May of 2011.

I have mixed feelings.

I think this could be good b/c one of my biggest grips about the last movie is that I thought they could have done more and put more "stuff" into the film. So as long as they make sure with this 7th book to include a good amount of information into the 2 movies and it doesn't feel like it is dragging, then I think it would be good. I am also glad they are filming the two movies together and we will not have to wait another year and a half for the second part of the movie.

You do wonder, is it one last ditch effort to get more money and create more hype. I mean you go to see the first half, you will see the second.

As long as they have the best interest of the content of the last book in mind and do that last book justice, I will be happy!

I Love.....

The weather right now!

We always complain, and rightfully so, about the crappy weather we have had lately but I would like to give a shout out to how wonderful it has been the past few days!

Last night, (well the past few nights) I have driven home with the sun brightly shinning down! I had my sunglasses on, my music cranked, and my moon roof open! I got my Vitamin D from the sun and just smelled the fresh crisp air!

"ahhhhh"

It was perfect! I totally love driving around in the winter on sunny days with my windows down to breathe in the crisp air, it just feels so lovely!

So thank you weather for being so fantastic these past few days! Now please don't go back to the way you have been this winter, I rather enjoy this side of you!

You Are Ernie

Playful and childlike, you are everyone's favorite friend - even if your goofy antics get annoying at times.

A Great & Cool Craft Project!

I think I am in the mood to shop today! hehe

I think these vintage record bowls are SO fantastic! T&I love records and have a few record players. I am very into vintage things and just think these are WAY cool! And I am always up for a fun new craft project!

T & I have been searching for some cheap records so that I can make a bunch of these bowls. I have a few records; I would have more however my husband (the anal record collector he is) only wants me to use certain types of records to make these bowls, says some just won't work right. Whatev!

Here is how you can make these (like the pic above) however, if you just want to buy them done and perfect (bottom pic - $26) click here!!

1. Get some cheap and useless vinyl records. (Unless you are married to my husband)
2. Preheat your oven to around 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
3. Place your record on the center of an upside down pot or metal bowl. Put this onto a baking sheet.
4. Put this into the oven. Keep a close watch because each vinyl starts to "flop" at a different time. It usually takes 4-8 minutes.
5. Take the whole thing out of the oven (wearing oven mitts, of course) once you notice some real "flopping" going on.
6. Put your record into another bowl and shape it around that, or you can hand mold it. Sometimes, you might like the way it looks right as you take it out of the oven; if so, skip the molding.
7. Let it cool for 10-15 minutes.
8. Flip it over.
9. Put your bowl to use!

Way Cute!

I think these retro aprons are WAY cute! I really want to order one!

The website is bellapamella (Click here). They are $40.

I saw them in a magazine, and I just think they are totally cute! And as I do cook and enjoy cooking (yes I do dad - hehe) I think it would be cool to own an apron, though this may just be my special occasion apron to wear. Like I put it on before I serve dinner to look cute - I wouldn't want to get it dirty ;-)

I Love.....

Our Curved Shower Curtain Rod!

We first saw one of these a couple years ago at a hotel and decided we HAD to have one! At the time, they were hard to find, but in the past year you can find these wonderful things pretty much anywhere; Home Depot, Lowe's, Bed Bath & Beyond, Big Lots (to name a few)!

We got ours at Home Depot for $39.99! Let me tell you, it is worth it!

"This crescent shower curtain rod features a curved design which creates real elbow room and 25% more total space. By curving in 3" at the corners and outward 6" in the center, this rod will stop leaks and increase comfort."

We do not have a huge shower so needless to say we are always bumping our shower curtain with our elbows...ick. My shower today, no bumping and it just felt more open and not so cramped!

I HIGHLY suggest one of these!

Just add it to my list of Pet Peeves.

So I have a new Pet Peeve to add to my already too long list.

We have a foot shuffler, a zombie walker, a static creator, a man with 100 pound feet in our office. I have to say that I just don’t understand this!

Every time he comes up to the part of the office I am in I hear him, shuffling away – LOUDLY, like he has just walked across the Sierra Desert and doesn’t have the will to walk one more step. Maybe his shoes weigh too much or are too big, maybe he is perpetually tired, maybe as my dad use to say….”You are just being lazy. Pick up your damn feet!” I shuffle as well at times, usually when I am very tired or have slippers on, but not every time I walk! UGH

When you are in a shared office your pet peeve lists grows. People eat too loud, walk too hard, type too hard, blow their nose too often, snap their gum loudly, talk too much, or some days just their presence is annoying. I know I fit on someone’s pet peeve list at times just like they can be on mine at times. It is what it is but I just had to vent.

Yeah, I know sound like a grumpy bitch….put it on your list.

HD vs Blu-Ray

T & I just got a sweet HD dvd player for Christmas! (Thanks mom and dad). We really love it! Even the standard dvd’s you play in it look so much clearer and vibrant. However, we notice that Blu-Ray seems to be edging out HD DVD’s. I say…boo. I am actually a huge fan of HD. But b/c many stores are dropping HD and favoring Blu-Ray the benefit is in our favor! T & I are getting HUGE discounts on HD dvd’s. We got 4 HD dvd’s for under $40 a couple weeks ago – AWESOME! And last night my parents called and said you can go to this website called deepdiscounts.com and they have HD dvd’s for up to 78% off plus free shipping! Click here (They have other dvd’s and stuff on sale as well!)

So what is the technical difference?

HD DVD or High-Definition DVD is a high-density optical disc format designed for the storage of data and high-definition video. HD DVD was designed by a consortium of companies (principally Toshiba and NEC) to be the successor to the standard DVD format.

Blu-ray Disc (also known as Blu-ray or BD) is an optical disc storage media format. Its main uses are high-definition video and data storage. The disc has the same dimensions as a standard DVD or CD.

Um…sounds the same but overall Blu-ray discs are more expensive, but hold more data. That is the difference.

Who supports Blu-Ray & HD:

Blu-Ray
20th Century Fox
Buena Vista Home Entertainment
Hollywood Pictures
Lions Gate
Miramax Entertainment
MGM Studios
New Line Cinema
Sony Pictures Entertainment
Touchstone Entertainment
The Walt Disney Company
Vivendi Universal Games
Warner Bros.

HD DVD
Dreamworks
Paramount Pictures
Universal Studios

I am just annoyed at the whole thing. I think HD dvd's and players have a great quality and are the better value, at least for us. Even at the HD's standard pricing. All our standard dvd's look better on our HD player and the only movies we really get in HD are the big action movies. So to spend the money on a blu-ray player and the DVD's just don't make sense for our needs. Maybe in the movie making world it is better, but what about the consumer? I will keep supporting HD!

Do you have an HD or Blu-Ray DVD player? Thoughts on the whole thing?
